Advise on Pink Diamonds with Strong Blue Fluorescence

I think if I'm honest that's a very very pale pink and the colour isn't evenly distributed throughout the stone so the problem is that some areas will show as pink whilst other areas may look a bit colourless. I've got to say that comparing it to that pantone colour is a bit of a stretch however what it does do is show you how the diamond looks when it has a pink background near to it. If the first photo (on the fingers) is in daylight (and it's a bit difficult to know), then I suspect the fluor may be kicking out the pink because it's looking a bit brown in that photo.

What it DOES have going for it is size. For a sub quarter of a carat, it faces up really big. I wonder how it would react if you have a rose gold enclosed basket underneath it? I suspect it would look much more pink. If you get it for a look, I would suggest putting two pennies (or whatever coinage your country has that is similar to rose pink, sort of balance them in a V between your fingers and pop the diamond in the centre. It's not foolproof but might help to know whether you like the overall colour.

I have faint pinks and a fancy intense. The faint looks almost colourless most of the time. I suggest FIP if your budget can stretch that far. Mine has inclusions but am fortunate they blend in well so it looks clean enough to my naked eye. The stone being small helps too.

The 2 RBs on each side are faint pink, the oval is FIPP.

Most of the FCD are in the I1 range..the inclusions seem to make the interiors messy. I am hesitant to make an I1 FCD as the first purchase...maybe I should withhold and look around more..

I would not trust this photo. The white padding that this stone sits on is fairly bright pink. This image is not color-balanced.

I color-balanced it for you below. The padding is not pink now. But neither is the diamond.

Oh -- but I can't fix the saturation, if that has been boosted. I would need to know exactly what was done to the original image. I just "subtracted" the pinkness from the whole picture. Fingers are pretty vivid, imo, so U would not be surprised if the saturation were cranked.

It is possible to innocently manipulate an image to make the gem look as close to "truth" as possible. Usually, that is not what is done.

Yes, I like the size! I was naïve to think that faint pink will remain pastel pink in real life. Since I am overseas and no way to inspect them visually, I should give it a miss. :(

Thank you! I see what you mean...yes they appear colourless in some photos. By the way, Your ring is very lovely designed...and a ring with all 3 metals? Something I which have never thought of! =)2

LilAlex, are you an expert in photoshop? Yes, yes, the saturation bothered me a bit and makes me wonder where does it get the pink from...and now with your help, I can visually tell that this "faint pink" ....is really nothing to shout about.

It is a good thing that I did not commit the purchase and consulted all of you... prior doing something really silly. =)2

Let's be honest. The color grade for the stone is light pink. If we convert that to D-Z color on the yellow scale, the stone you're looking at is probably in the S-T range. So it is technically a light pink color. But it's probably on the lower end, hence my guess is it's equivalent to S-T. If you have enough in the budget you probably would want a Fancy Light Pink color.

Are you set on cushion shape? @La2020 If not, here's a fancy light color grade closest to the price of the cushion you were looking at. And plus it's an argyle stone!

Most of the offered pink diamonds are Argyle diamond. With a medium to strong blue fluorescence they are 1a A<B which is typical for Argyle mine - especially these orangy pinks.

The Argyle report makes them much more expensive imo.

No, but I used to do a lot of image editing for work. I mostly use Adobe Lightroom which is very "photographic" -- the manipulations are what a photographer would want to do (exposure, contrast, color-temperature, adjust different color channels, etc.). Great for photos. Not great if you want to design a corporate logo or draw a unicorn leaping over a rainbow, etc.

Thanks acebruin. I have actually seriously considered this FCD before. It is in my wishlist for now. =)2

Hi Nosean, may I ask what is a 1a A<B ? Pretty new to this. :?:

Hahhaha okies!

I haven't read all the comments, but will add that I have a pink diamond with blue fluorescence. 20201122_135406.jpg20201122_135422.jpg

@La2020 another thing you can do is ask them for a side by side shot of different shades of light pink and fancy light pink... sometimes it helps to see how pink a stone is in side by side comparison... I've asked for many of these side by side comparison before to help gauge the color...

Wow turns into a light blue! So pretty? Is the pink you have a fancy light pink?

It is a .31ct Fancy purplish pink. I have a .51 ct Fancy light pink I put in a bracelet that does not have any fluorescence.

Should be.. ."Wow turns into a light blue! So pretty! Is the pink you have a fancy light pink?"

Silly typo.. I was replying through my phone.

Is the Fancy purplish pink from Leibish? I realised that the light colors will likely look colourless most of the time. So I am changing my search criteria.
