What do you think in terms of price for this colour and bead size? It looks like it has a slight translucency to me.

You would only be paying for tree colour. Which is somewhat mottled. Not bad. It's a Chinese preference. But I'd pass on it. Rather opaque though polish is decent.

So not a rip off but comes down to personal preference and the value in this thing is mainly the colour?
 
Value only in colour. The 6.5mm size is nothing.

Looks like a mottled bright green color. There is really a premium for color alone but I prefer the more transluscent ones unless the color is more even. :)

This is why I plague you ladies! I feel like there are so many nuances with jade! I'm really loving learning about it just from the necklaces alone!

The important thing is that neither of you have said "No, that's worth $100!"

Jade is really worth how much the market wants to pay for it and how much the intermediaries paid for the rough!
 
Yes you're right. 5mm is small. The smaller they are, the more translucent they can appear, if the rough is somewhat translucent.

I think it's probably a small piece of jadeite boulder or full of fractures, so they are only able to get small beads out of the rough.
 
hehe I FINALLY wore a different necklace out today!

But tomorrow I've got a date with the 5yo so it's back to my jade necklace and green rings!

I reallllly want another one by the end of this year! hehe maybe after I pay the bill for my tourmaline ring :mrgreen:
 
My little boy is the sweetest!

We were browsing jade together and he saw a $6000 very GREEN necklace with large beads that I was oogling. He tells me to buy it and I say I haven't got the money to buy it, so he runs to his money box and brings me a $100 note to contribute towards the necklace. I tell him he's a very sweet boy but mummy won't be spending $6000 on jade.

Then he was so hurt I wouldn't take his money so I had to promise him that when I find something in my budget I will tell him so he can contribute.

Then he said he was going to study hard and be rich so that he can buy mummy a jade necklace or ring every special occasion! So sweet and generous :love:

I'm enjoying the 5yo love and devotion before the inevitable teen angst!

I wish!!! I wish they'd let me zoom in for a day! They won't even let me go on a cruise to Melbourne (Hubs likes to read cruise horror stories)!

It's a nice halo and a nice ring shank! Some of the ring shanks leave little to be desired!
 
Ebay lady is overpriced btw but who knows? If she has a store IRL, you could negotiate. No ebay fees to pay in person.
