Considering this diamond:
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2812711.htm

any comments on this stone?

my GF's ring size is between 5 and 6, and the band will be around 2mm wide.

Can anyone near those specs with a round diamond between .75 and .90 ct post a photo and their specs. just want to confirm the stone will look...substantial enough given her size and such

You may want to place this stone on hold

I do not have a stone like that, but go take a look at the under 1ct tthread over in show me the bling. Lots of simple solitaires that size :)

Eta. That stone will be just lovely. Make sure to place it on hold

Only the g's posted there have an HCA under 2, and onr has very good sym so i dont know even if that hca took is accurate without ex synm

The first one could be nice though if its eye clean. My phone cant view it right now so i cant see the pics

Ring is being custom made by whiteflash, so while i could still choose another diamond, it would have to be with that vendor.

is your assessment that the stone would be too small since you recommended in the .90ct range?

I think that stone will be perfect, and i think there is a " mind clean" thing you get when staying above an SI clarity.

Here's a slightly larger eye clean stone for $700 more:
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2763644.htm

this is 6.17 vs the 6.03 mm of the other stone.

On the other hand, you can save money and get the same size for less:

or

This one is slightly larger still - 6.24 mm
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2813933.htm

It's $600 more, however it's not deemed eye clean. In the zoom in, it looks pretty darn good, though. You can ask them about it. It's not AGS000 because of the excellent vs ideal symmetry - to which I say - Pfft! Worth the extra in size, it's still sparkly!

webdiva, those two less expensive stones were in the original ones I was considering. My rep at whiteflash looked at them and thought the .824 was nicer and worth the $500 jump for peace of mind in the vs2, and color grade. AND although it is less carat, it faces up around the same.

I still have a little curiosity about those larger stones (which I had seen online but not had reviewed since my budget has already stretched once).

the .904 looks bluer near the center...is that just a photography thing? i would be worried about the .934, shows marks on the scopes and has quite a few inclusions.

im uncertain how big the stone i chose would look sight unseen, especially being a novice..which is why i'd question it would look proportional given the ring size and band i chose. i feel the stone i picked out is a safe bet to have nice color and eye clean which is why im pretty happy there, but if i can get something bigger and still a safe bet for another $250 or so, I would.

I think that .78ct on a 6.5 looks plenty proportional, so a slightly larger diamond on a slightly smaller hand should be great. i think im going to do it *GULP*

thanks for the assistance!!

flamingoezz,

Just for reference, the eraser on a Papermate mechanical pencil is about 7mm across. When you look at the magnified image of a diamond, inclusions look HUGE sometimes. In real life, those same "boulders" often are so tiny you can't see them.

wrong thread

thought i reserved the .824 ct, that .904 ct stone is still haunting me..

it iss lower color and clarity plus 750 bucks in cost, but adds .1mm in size -- seems like its not worth it, but im having second thoughts on 6.04mm diamond i picked

GF has small hands (size 5.5, not long fingers) and the band is pretty thin (2mm) which i think helps me.

GAHHH, why is this so difficult =p

have them reserve both and tell you if the $ is worth it. Tehy are honest and wont try and upsell you if the other one is a better buy. Also they can give you pics of the two together, so you can actually see if the size is really that much better for the concession of price color and clarity

Despite being an AGS0, the .904 scores a 3.5 on the HCA. Your orginal choice, the .82 scores much better at a 1.8.

By all means, have WF look at both and advise you, but the .82 is predicted to be a brighter and more lively stone.
