Well - I really have no idea when I''ll get engaged, I have a feeling I''ll be here for a while. I thought it would be by the end of the year but I''m not sure if that is realistic.

Our relationship is fine, we''re basically on the same page - but there are just way too many personal issues with family, and work, and other miscellaneous BS....I could go on and on but I won''t beause most of it''s pretty personal. Unless things become uncluttered a bit, there won''t be a wedding any time soon..

I''m OK with that...today....but sometimes it bugs me.

ams0124- My boyfriend wants to surprise me too. We hadn''t had a discussion about a "timeline" of sorts up until maybe March or April. But it was a general timeline which made me feel better. So I sort of know its somewhere likely within 1-3 years (and that could obviously change.) Id rather not know exactly when its going to happen because I would lose my mind! And I originally insisted I have a certain setting without his input but we recently looked at rings together (long story, you would have to go back to my thread topics to read about it) and after that I told him I was ok with letting him decide instead of me telling him what to get me. I like it better this way. And now I dont obsess over the ring situation like I did before. Although, I still wonder what he will end up getting me and what size the diamond will be! HA!

I''m probably 6mo. to 1yr. out... we''re getting really serious about looking for rings, though.

Wedding is a different story- we''ll probably have a long engagement- marriage will probably be about 4-5 years from now. *sigh*... no time, no money.

I have a bit of a wait too--April or May of 2009 for the engagement and then May 2010 for the wedding. We set this timeline back in mid- May, so at least it''s already mid- August, right?

i first discovered ps when my bf and i started talking about getting married last fall. since then, he''s decided to go back to school to finish his BA. he''ll be done by May 2009, so i''m hoping and praying maybe a bday proposal (dec of 2009) or maybe a 3 year anniv proposal (jan 2010)? hahaaha. who knows?! i''m patiently waiting. but ps definitely makes me a little antsy at times. i''ve had to take ps breaks to keep myself sane. hahaaha.

i think i''ll be around for a while. unless my SO has something up his sleeve that he''s managed to keep extremely quiet, (which is doubtful), i''ll probably be an LIW for at least another year. boo to waiting!!

ams- ha! Im glad I recently had my finger sized with him right there next to me. The SA even wrote it on a card which I know he still has. And a few times he says "What''s your size? 5.5?" YEP!!!

Glad you know. Remember it. I DONT want to have to wait to get it sized cause once he gives me the ring, it AINT COMING OFF!!!!! lol

julie- I can understand that. FF finally just got his BS degree after several years of part time school while working full time. But the past 2 years he put it in high gear and pushed through so many classes, I don''t know how he did it! But now he may or may not go back eventually to get his masters. That would take another 2 years....

vita- I guess these guys could always have something up their sleeves that we dont know about. I wonder about that sometimes........

i realize that this is a little old, but i found this when i was about to post on this exact thing!

im really hoping for it to happen within the next 3-5 years, basically. bf is really slow about these things, he needs time to come to conclusions that ive made much more quickly

. we''ve been together since 10/05 (we''re both 25) , and long distance since may of last year. i was supposed to move to his city this summer, but in january he had a major meltdown about committment, since i would be moving to him, and we broke up for nearly 5 months. he''s figured things out and we got back together in late june-early july. he''s changed a lot since then and seems to be [slowly] moving in the right direction. we''re still in an ldr, probably until next fall or winter of 09 (im too nervous to pick up and move after everything that just happened, so we''re doing another year of ldr).

i never doubted that he''s the one that i want to be with, it''s really just a matter of waiting at this point. he doesn''t like his job right now, and that''s his major focus. i know that nothing will happen until he finds a better job, because of how unhappy he is at the moment.

so that''s the short story basically. im not planning or anything, i just have a hard time finding support on the web for people in serious relationships heading toward marriage. relationship boards seem to be populated mostly by people of high school age. it seems like people here are more similar to me.

DEF not alone...I just asked to join the list today. Although we''re working on my ring now I know it won''t be ready until Oct/Nov so I''m here at least until then.

THEN I''ll need help with my beach wedding theme...so where else would I go for help?? Oh and as for how long FF and I have been together...it''s been 5 1/2 years. I met him when I first moved here....been living together for over 4 now.

KatM- A very understandable situation for sure. And my boyfriend is in a similar situation as yours. Nothing will happen until he gets another job as well and he feels secure in it. He is not too happy with his current job situation as they have had several layoffs and piled an extreme amount of work on him with no raise....
