Hi, I was looking at the papers for an old ring and I find myself a little lost.

It says its an AGS registered diamond with a number. When it gets to the description of the color it says: AGS C/M 1 1/4.

Um...what does that translate to?

I was trying to figure out how well cut this diamond really was but I suspect I don''t have enough information. Its .71 carat, Diameter at Girdle is 5.81 x 5.86mm with a depth of 3.54 mm.

It has a medium table, medium girdle and a small culet. The girdle is faceted and evidently has a number.

The cut is listed as brilliant, ideally proportioned.

Is there some way for me to get more information from AGS or do I need to just have it reappraised to get the numbers to plug into one of the calculators?

Its an I grade with a "intersecting group of feathers under the table and other minor blemishes".

Thanks!

I am not positive, but I think that diamond is, or was, an AGS master diamond (C/M). Some jeweler is probable looking for it. I have no other explanation for what it could be.
A 1.25 is equil to a GIA F. If any of you other AGS guys out there have another explanation, I would love to hear it.

Ah, thanks for the info...I have been trying to get to the AGS website but it never seemed to come up for me.

What is a master diamond? If someone has been looking for it, its been a long look. I've owned it since 1995.

Its the old engagement ring from a previous marriage. Since I'm looking to pop the question again I'm trying to figure out if its worth shopping it around or just turning it into something else. I'm of the inclination to keep it given that the inclusion is looks like a dove in flight. The jewler remarked that it was somewhat rare to see a stone cut this well for an I diamond.

What is a master diamond?

I think dimonbob means it is a diamond from a colour master set. The set used by gemmologists to match the colour of diamonds to in order to give them a colour grade. (They have a diamond of each colour in their set). I take it he means the '(C/M)' could stand for colour master.
