Here's my story. I'm a guy who's a bit of a romantic, and I wanted my engagement to be sweet and memorable. My girlfriend and I had been talking about marriage for a couple of months. She new the ring was coming, but I had to find a way to surprise her. If I did anything out of the ordinary, she would know! What could I do?
Well, it happened that my parents in Charleston, SC were taking part in a church event a few weeks before, and they invited me and my fiancé to come see the show. This was perfect, because I wanted to propose in Charleston, and this was a great excuse to get her down there without any suspicion. On top of that, my brother and his wife suggested we join them for lunch and then take pictures of the 4 of us at Hampton Park to use as Christmas gifts for the grandparents.
My plan was perfect, I told my fiancé that we were taking pictures first thing in the morning and then the 4 of us would go to lunch. We arrived at the park around 11:30am, and walked past the gazebo down a beautiful path. The old trees form a canopy over the path, and a row of lamps run down the middle. We stopped at a spot I had chosen, and I started telling her how beautiful she looked and other sweet things. Then I put my hand into my pocket, looked into her eyes, and she knew. I pulled out the ring box, opened it, got down on one knee, and asked her to be wife. Her eyes watered up, and she told me she would love to marry me! I slid the ring onto her finger, and we spent some time just enjoying the moment together, alone in the park.
Needless to say, she was very surprised! I had dropped false hints about not even having the ring yet for about 4 weeks. The plan just fell into place perfectly.
Let me tell you, it was the best day of my life to date Oh, and she says the ring is perfect too!
Now here are some pics that we took later that day.
