Congratulations. The halo on the ring is really pretty and unique, I''m curious about the designer as well.

I love your engagement story, you are a true romantic! The ring isn''t half bad either, LOL! congrats on your future together!

What a sweet story and a beautiful ring!
Congratulations on your engagement!

That is one GORGEOUS ring!! It looks like it was made for your hand, the proportions are just perfect. Congratulations!

Thank you all for the kind congratulations :-) We are still living in the bliss of the moment. Now I need to figure out a place for the honeymoon... she wants a warm sandy beach. We''re looking at some all inclusive resorts, but there are so many options to choose! Any tips? Should I get a travel agent?

About the ring:

I looked for a long time before I found this stone + setting. I educated myself online at BlueNile, Whiteflash, and Pricescope. Then I probably went to 5 different stores in my area. The last place I went was Kays. That''s where I saw this setting. I''ll be completely honest, this was the best setting I could find. The only settings that came close were the HOF Repertiore and a Christopher Classic design. Both of those were out of my price range. I went into Kays just browse and compare, but when I saw this setting I was stunned. I knew it would look gorgeous on her hand. It sparkled unbelievably, rivaling the HOF setting but for 1/3 the price. I absolutely loved the squared sides that hold the baquetts. Nothing else I saw had anything like that, and I knew I had found her ring.

As for the stone, I will say the display piece was 1/3 ct and had a slightly yellow tint. It still looked great, but I wanted this thing to really shine on my wife-to-be''s hand. As I was looking in the store, I saw a great looking stone on a solitare setting. It was certified (IGI), and .78 ct. I asked if I could use that stone in my setting instead of the original. Of course they were more than happy to accomodate. I will say, the lady who helped me at Kays was very professional and friendly. She let me view the stone under the microscope and examine the cert. I know they usually get a bad rap, but I was surprised. In fact, I was ready to buy it that day because the price seemed fair, but she told me I should hold it for a week and come back when they had a sale. I did, and got it for 10% less than I had expected to pay. I was very pleased, and the jewler they sent the ring to did an excellent job swapping the center stones. It looked even better than I imagined it would.

I got the matching wedding band, and it is equally as sparkly. You should really see this ering at church, or other places where there are bright overhead lights. It flashes like crazy. They might not be the highest quality diamonds, but it just looks amazing on her finger, and that''s what counts.

Like fireworks on her finger

Overall, the entire process and result has been such a blessing. I never would have thought I could find a ring this awesome within my budget.
