An eventful week: reception dress, makeup, cranes, and glasses!

This week has been wedding crazy already, but I wanted to share some things. First, my reception dress came in and was altered! It only needed a couple quick alterations, so they are already done!

I also had my make-up trial. I have to do everything myself because I won''t have access to an MUA where our wedding is. I basically had a lesson and then applied it myself. Please let me know if you see anything that should be changed:

I basically wanted eyes that would pop through my glasses (though I am not wearing these pair, I am wearing them):

And, what I am most excited about (!!!!!). . . I finished my 1000 cranes today!

FI has not finished folding his 1000, so I will likely help him, but this has been my most intense DIY project so far, so I am beyond happy!

Panda, you totally should try! I had one lesson at Aveda and another at MAC. I seriously learned so much about application and totally feel comfortable to DIY now. I had never successfully applied eyeliner before and now feel like I can! I even learned tons of general skin tips to help with my shiny, shiny skin.

Ah, merry, that would be helpful info, huh? There is a Japanese tradition to give a bride and groom 1000 cranes for their wedding to grant them 1000 years of prosperity and happiness. I started folding them as my wedding gift to FI. He decided he wanted to give me the same. Then, we decided to use them as our decorations (there are several reasons FI and I didn't want to use flowers and ultimately decided upon paper) since they looked really cool.

ETA: I guess I didn't answer your other question, Merry. It takes me about 3 minutes to fold a crane, so 3000 minutes (YIKES), but I have been doing it for 1-2 hours a night during my TV time for about 2 months now. So that makes it go much faster.

WOW! Your dress is stunning as well as your make up! I am really impressed you folded 1000 cranes all by yourself too! I asked my half Japanese aunt if she would help me do this for decorations, and she said no.

LOVE the dress - absolutely adorable on you!!

For the makeup - I''d consider the following slight modifications:

1. somewhat more blush - think of putting on WAY more than you would ever wear IRL, because photos wash you out big time

2. a little more contouring on the eye, and softening of the eyeliner - basically, load up on the darker/medium shadows from the lashline up to the crease of your eye, then blend like crazy. This will help your eyes "pop" more through the glasses.

3. something underneath the eye. I''d just extend a small, soft line of medium/dark shadow at the outer corner of the eye underneath, otherwise it looks a teeny bit unbalanced with the top.

Your dress is so beautiful!! But agree with Amber that you need more blush, and something underneath the eye.
