I was just compiling our announcement list for our elopement in September, when it struck me that I was unsure how to address the envelopes.

Should they be worded as formally as Wedding Invitations?

Our announcements will be very informal with pictures from our day and a big "We Did It!" on the front.

What do you think?

I think it''s up to you if the announcement is informal, but I always match the envelope to what''s inside, so I''d keep the addresses familiar (e.g. "Uncle Sal and Aunt Marie" instead of "Mr. and Mrs. Salvadore Prufrock").

Which do you prefer? Do that.

Thanks Haven, I think I''ll keep it informal. We''re already breaking the rules by eloping, right? I just don''t want to offend any distant relatives.

I think I am going to address them to "The X Family" It wil save a lot of time typing out names!

Mia, we did this and we treated it as a formal wedding style etiquette and did the formal addressing, full names, no nicknames, write out "Street", etc. not "St., write out the full state name, etc. It just looks more "official"!
