Another Newbie Looking for a Sapphire - Intergem?

Hi all,

I've been reading here for weeks now, looking at tons of pictures, reading all the information and threads I can to get comfortable with the idea of buying a gemstone.

What I'd really like is a 6 mm or so round sapphire, with a unique, not necessarily ideal color (I'm partial to the Montana sapphires I've seen with more green to them, or lighter blues). I've found a couple I like on websites that you have listed on the "good vendors" thread, but I found out there's an upcoming Intergem show in my area. Is it worth going to that to look around or am I likely to be completely overwhelmed/snowed as a noob in this whole thing? Are prices typically good at these things, or is it just a matter of being able to see lots of stuff at once?

I would take the opportunity to go look, even if not buying, to get an idea of the variety of colours, cuts, pricing and etc. Pricing will vary and often, you can actually make a lower offer.
