So next month my boyfriend and I get to pick up my diamond and decide on what we will be doing about the setting. The diamond is paid off (and has been since Oct. but the jeweler insisted on us leaving it there until we decide what to do about the setting). Anyway, this is the first time either of us had purchased any sort of jewelry and we are both incredibly confused over the whole thing. I found this forum recently and have learned so much (I thought knowing the 4 C''s and if it was GIA/AGS certified was enough!) from here and well as from random searching.
I posted another threat about the setting (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/i-could-really-use-some-help-finding-a-setting.136448/), but had another question.
My diamond is GIA certified and I realize it was done 3 years ago. Could something have happened in those 3 years? Is this a new diamond or could it have been set before? Are these questions people generally ask to begin with? Would it be okay to ask now? If it has been worn or had anything done to it that could have changed the report grade would I be crazy to ask them to have it GIA certified again? The diamond was expensive for its size and we were told they wouldn''t come down in price because of the grade it received.
I just want to educate myself as much as possible before I go. We both felt so clueless when we bought the diamond and I don''t want to feel that way when we go back.
Thank you guys for all your help. This forum is amazing!
