I purchased this ring at an Estate sale. The diamond is set in 18 karat white gold. The diamond measures 4.9 mm. I was told that it was an old mine cut. It has a large table and has a very small cutlet. It also is round opposed to cushion shape. The sapphires are natural french cut and have finger print inclusions. The ring has carvings of what appears to be insect bodies. Please help me identify the diamond cut and time period the ring was made. Thank you

I think people are going to need to see pictures with the diamond up close and in focus. Old Mine Cuts generally have very small tables and there's a lot of confusion in the general public about older stones anyway.

Agree with bastecat - the ring 'looks pretty' but we'd need clearer pics to fully help you. Can you snap a few more to post for us?

More pics, i took it to a Jewlers today, advised that it was an early 1920s american brilliant cut? Didn't know we cut our own diamonds back in the early 20th century in the USA.

Thank you for the link to the book. The diamond is si2 e color. I am amazed by fire of the diamond! This peace was in the "scrap pile" at the sale. The jewler steamed cleaned and rhodium plated the piece. My wife couldn't believe that the ring was bought as scrap and how somebody could melt such a nice hand crafted piece.
