Newby here, found this site looking for info........I inherited a 1 ct. fancy yellow diamond ring , set in a man''s thick gold setting ( it was a woman''s ring) and it is dated around 1910....What does anyone think the value might be , and where would be the best place to get an appraisal?

At the top of the page click on resources, then click on appriasers. Hopefully there will be one in your area.
You need to take it to an independent appraiser, meaning one that doesn't sell jewelry. Best of luck

Hi Lookyellow,

There are quite a few PS-recommended appraisers listed on this site - I hope that you find one that is close to you.

BUT!! More importantly, where are those photos??? I have seen very few antique stones with color and I am dyiinnnggg to see a photo of this ring

Sorry about no photo , wasn''t prepared when I found this site........I will post one tomorrow, I just did some more research and I think this ring is older than 1910......thanks for the info

Hi lookyellow, I''m a personal color diamond consultant in the trade. I might be able to give you some advice. Couple questions:

What''s the shape?
How clean is it?
Does it have a grading report?
How strong is the color? Would you say that the GIA would give it "fancy"

Based on this I could give you some #''s.

Colordia..., what #''s can you give based on shape, clean (i assume you mean clarity...), type of report, the the intensity of a color based on a non-professional opinion???

Just wondering,
