Any black friday purchases?

I just got a new glamour shot from Moline. I mayyyyyy have also grabbed a baby 5.5-6mm pinked Akoya pair because I found a setting for just a little over melt value that looked promising when looking for something for the blues.

I'm dying.

Here's the setting for those baby Akoyas. Not great photos but 18k WG and fun and I figure those new pearls will look great no matter what:

But I still need something long-term for the blues! Any ideas? Something to show off how round and how blue....

Are you 100% committed to earrings on the blues? They'd be phenomenal in a ring, or a blue and ${something else} alternating bracelet...

Not 100% committed, no! And I could see them to admire them in a ring or bracelet....

I was eyeing this Mikimoto bracelet on TRR for a while:

Do you have any specific things you were thinking?

@newtojewels @clockworkreader @yssie Thanks for chiming in all, I agree. the more I thought about it, the more I envisioned them as dangles. I am still waiting on my pair of Takahashi gem grade 8-8.5mm akoyas... perhaps I will set those as studs instead (even though I have 7-7.5mm studs lol).

But yes, I think the color will be amazing on these blue akoyas and would love to see them dancing around in the light :kiss2:

We’ll be twins because I also have 7-7.5mm studs, but purchased a 8-8.5mm pair during the Takahashi x PP livestreams  My pair is gem luster with light kizu though.

I toyed with making mine a little different by attaching a small diamond on the bottom of the pearl, but I’m going to go with simple studs after all.

Are you having yours shipped to you loose?

I'm going to have them set before sending to me; I'm too impatient to do the multiple-shipping game haha. Given that they are gem grade and natural white, I highly doubt I would find something irregular that I didn't already notice to the point I would want to return them. Worst case scenario.. someone will get a nice gift this Christmas. I would like to set them in something other than plain studs though, to at least have a style difference between my hanadama studs (to justify the 2nd pair lol), but having a hard time deciding from what PP has available. I've never gotten loose pearls set by someone other than the pearl vendor, so a little nervous about going "off campus" per se.

What are you trying to decide between?

I’m sure you’ll love your new gemmy studs! Worst case scenario, I’m sure they wouldn’t be hard to sell on LoupeTroupe either.

Regarding your settings, I’d be inclined to go with something simple that’ll let the pearls shine. Maybe a simple drop setting or classic pearl and diamond studs (like their Starlight collection)? I also love their Trio collection settings!

I’ve never set my own pearl jewellery so I was tempted to have PP set them for me, but it’s just much more cost efficient for me to get the settings separately and glue them on myself. I wasn’t able to find any epoxy made especially for jewellery though — does anyone know if regular epoxy (that states it can be used with metal) will work?

For the Natural Whites, I was originally considering the Solid Eternal or the Diamond Bar in 14k WG. But since I snagged the Blue Akoyas, I think will set them with the Solid Eternal instead. I don't want to repeat settings (it's just a thing) and don't want to distract from the pearl itself, so now my top contenders for the Whites are Bar/Diamond Bar and Starlight stud style.

I wouldn't want to repeat settings either, so I feel you! The blues would be fun on the Diamond Bar too.... What else do you have for pearl earrings?

So I have:

Studs - 4 different pairs, ranging from 7-7.5mm pinked Hanadama to 11-12mm GSS (yea I don't need more studs)

Leverback with 8mm round freshwaters - they are sterling silver and I have not worn them in years, hence wanting to get the Solid Eternal

Threaders with 7.5-8mm Metallic peach freshwaters

Dangly ball + chain + black spinel beads with baroque Tahitians (haven't worn in a while)

French Hooks with 7-8mm Metallic white drops (loooove these)

PP Blossom French Hooks with 9.8mm Tahitian drops

PP Romantic Dangles with 23mm Edison Fireballs

PP Cascade Dangles with 11mm Double Kasumi Drops

I don't have anything like the Diamond Bar, which is a drop earring with stud posts. For some reason, I think the YG with diamonds looks really for it. And PS: I have now confirmed the Solid Eternals with PP for the blues ;)2

@newtojewels Did you make any decision about your Moline blues yet?

Send me some!

I think the YG Diamond Bar is beautiful and it sounds quite different from what you already have. That's a winner to me! And the blues will look great in that, a perfect special but casual pair.

I have another thread about my decision, potentially thinking ring now instead of earrings. It's all Yssie's fault! My mom is voting cuff bracelet but I think that's just too symmetrical/matchy-matchy for me.

IMG_0720.jpegI love this post! I’m always curious what other people are getting.
So happy to see who got those blue akoya also, those were amazing!
My husband got me a pair of white akoya studs from moline for my birthday, via the Black Friday sale

Gorgeous!! Ear shots please! Would you be willing to share what Andrew graded these as?

Vigor jeweller's epoxy:

(It might be regular epoxy that they upcharge for by sticking the word "Jeweller" in the name - but if that's the case they've caught at least once sucker in me, I'm nervous to use anything else )

Woohoo I received my Blue akoya baroques set in the Solid Eternal leverbacks today. I'm so happy I went with the dangles, they just look so good when they are swaying around and the light hits it just right. Haven't tried them on with my blue strand yet but they are certainly an upgrade from my old white FW leverbacks.
