I am in love with modern remakes of old cuts. Also I am in love with old emerald cuts. Is there any chance those will come back with perfect light performance? With the big culets and the low colors, oh I think they are great. Or are old syle rounds and cushions the extent of it?

Haha I just used "av" ad an example- but does anyone do it?

Oh, I am very much with you on this idea!!! But I think the market is soooo small that it is unlikely anyone will do it. Look how few newly cut OEC's there are, and rounds are the most popular diamonds. I sincerely love the old emerald cuts, though! You probably would have to find an old one. My baby asscher actually has a little culet! That really was icing on the cake!

It is tiny so you have to know it is there to see it...the only problem with a small diamond! But it was fun to realize it when I saw the images of the stone!

I'd LOVE to have that EC in your picture, though!

Yeah I had considered that, or I know bg says on there site theyll cut whatever for you. Thats not really in the cards right now- though theres a good chance id go that route later. I was just wondering if anyone had put any thought into other older cuts. I know its not a big mRket but is there a big market for those extra faceted rounds?

I have/ had been looking for an older OMC or EC for a while now. It just happens that I found my OMC first. I would contact Adam at OWD to see later on if he can find EC too. I would love to make a version of this ring down the road with a 3ct EC to match my bracelet....far far far down the road now.

Pictures and video. HOWEVER it wasn't with an Emerald cut. It was with a Radiant a client saw in a video we had shot years ago of what was perhaps the most beautiful radiant we've ever ran across. The client expressed how much his fiance wanted THAT radiant. We managed to find the supplier we got it from but he didn't cut it nor knew how we could get it again as it wasn't a regularly cut diamond. After ensuring we weren't copying anyone's prior purposeful design, I located the model in our database and forwarded the model to one of my top cutters and we cut him the diamond.

I've also done this with Emerald cuts as we were helping a client with matching 1 1/2ct emerald cuts and finding an optically matched pair is like ... impossible. I located one with phenom optics, showed it to the client to ensure THAT was what they wanted, once confirmed we cut her a match. I don't have pix/video of that though as that was an in store client.

You can check this site for EC's with culets....don't know your budget but found this one and several others. This guy just lists what's in the database but his prices are some of the best on the web. anyone can call in these stones for you. I like his search because you can see everything out there with lots of info. on stones on one page.

also, is it possible to find a well cut EC and then cut a large culet? Just wondering.
