LovingDiamonds, PLEASE post pictures of your bracelets! They sound beautiful!

Lady Disdain, sorry to hear that :(( . I wouldn't receive anything r/t colored stones either if I didn't actually say "Please, I would love X for Christmas/ birthady." ;))

I promise I will towards the end of the week. I've just been given a new laptop for Christmas and can't get the camera software loaded and it's driving me nuts! When I've got more time I'll persevere! :appl:

BN,
Gorgeous Loliondos and good sized ones too. Lucky for you that Gene still has material similar to what he cut for TL.

Packrat,
It doesn’t matter if it is second or third has as long as it is in yours, right?

IndyLady,
Have you bezel foiled the emerald yet? I know it’s extremely difficult to photograph good emeralds but it looks good in the box.

Stonie,
Any pics?

ForteKitty,
So YOU are the lucky one who snagged that Barry tourmaline. You must post lots of pictures of that stone. 2 stone bypass?

As for the rest….where are the pics? *taps foot*

Good idea Chrono. I hadn't thought to do/try that though I've seen it done in other threads. Will definitely try it.

To be honest, i didn't plan on buying anything last week. I just happened to look while i was about to leave work, saw it, and put it in my basket and checked out w/o looking at anything else. It's a lil bit pricier than his other blue tourmalines, but definitely worth the price, as it is much more saturated than the other ones i got.

Wow gorgeous CS gifts everyone! Can't wait to see some of your pics!

Here's mine...

Megeve,
That is simply gorgeous; I love how the dragonfly landed ever so gently on that drop of water.

Thanks chrono! Lol, you have good imagination! love your way of describing what you see!

Beautiful pendant Megeve!

Megeve: Stunning.

Love seeing the chalcedony, isn't it great with the diamonds?

Did you buy this already made or have it made up for you?

Congrats!

Thank you! This pendant has a clasp which can also be used as a charm on a bracelet or as a pearl enhancer. Just love its versatility!

Thanks, StonieGrl! yah, just love diamonds with CS! It brings out the color in CS.

This is already made and you can buy them at Cartier.

Hasn't arrived yet, but a very rare 8.5ct iridescent rainbow garnet from Japan.

I can't wait to see it in person. From what I understand (and things may be lost in translation!) the colour is predominantly sky blue IRL and the iridescence goes throughout the stone so more like opal than just a surface effect. They sent me around 15 photos but said that none truly show the stone to it's best. Hence why I'm so excited.

I've been trying to find one for several year and so far have only seen a Mexican one in person. This stone is a polished crystal and is 15 x 11 x 9mm so I'm hoping it might be facetable.

Here's a couple of photos:

Pandora, please post another picture. This garnet sounds so beautiful and I can't see a thing with that picture :(( !

Congratulations on finally locating this stone! Looking forward to your impressions on it.

Megeve, your pendant is so imaginative and beautiful! You must have been delighted to receive it  .

Here's more photos.

I have a feeling/hope that it will be similar to some of the Ethiopian opals - but without the issues that they have.

From what I have read it seems that when faceting it needs something akin to rose-cutting so that the upper-surface isn't flat but catches the light at different angles. Cabs are apparently not the right way to go.

As garnets go, it's almost pure andradite (with a touch of spess and grossular) far more so than demantoid, and is an 8 on the Mohs's - again much harder than demantoid.

One of the guys in my gemmology class knows a lot of lapidaries here in London so I may take it round to see what they all think. Otherwise I will just leave it as is - I'm 99% certain I'd never set it even if I do have it faceted, I just want to make the most of the material.

This shows the opal-like colour from deep in the stone.

Those are the best photos I have - will take some myself when it arrives. The body colour is 'root-beer' brown and although it shows the full spectrum of colours the dominant one is the sky-blue - apparently...

Sorry, probably doesn't look very exciting - I'm just super-excited because they haven't been mined since 2005, I never thought I'd find one as big as this that I could afford, and phenomenal garnets are not very common - I have a colour-change and a star garnet already so this was completing several gaps in my collection.

Wow, so many beautiful stones.

BabyNurse,

I saw your other post. I can't find my thread either. I have struggled to photgraph this stone. But it is a 1.69ct round concave cut spessartite from Namibia.

Here are my best photos.

I have a alexandrite from Mastercutgems coming to me as a xmas present from my Honey  It is the .57carat one and I am hoping I love it. The price for the size seems good. I personally find the origin to be important with alexandrite, so I am very happy that it is from Russia, but I am not sure about the cutting. I am hoping it will look better in person.

NOW we're talking! I'm loving all this eye candy! So many BEAUTIFUL Stones!!

Loving all of this eyecandy! Everyone made out pretttty well!

I got these cute little 18k vintage abstract organic-y ruby screw-back earrings from my mother. IRL, the rubies perform well for their size and look really red, not as pink as they look in the photo, especially against the high karat gold. The rubies are tiny--probably about 3mm-- and the overall setting is probably about 8mm.

Such a beautiful pendant, Megeve! I took a peek through the Cartier website and didn't see it :(( . I imagine it's probably not available online.

It reminds me a bit of this pendant from HOW, same type of whimsical theme.

It looks like a beautiful stone, Pandora, and a fascinating one, too! I'm really looking forward to your pictures of it, and whether or not you decide to have it faceted (I hope so!). I know you're not interested in having it set but I bet it would make a stunning piece of jewelry. I hope you can capture some of that blue with your pictures!

Very interesting earrings, velouria! The rubies are really beautiful and I love to see red combined with high karat yellow gold. Your mother sure has great taste!
