Any experience with furniture from Macy''s?

DH and I are looking to buy a new dining table and chairs and have looked at several options. We don''t want to go with Ikea because thats what we have now and its kind of falling apart after only 3 years. However, we aren''t quite ready to make the price jump to something like Broyhill, Pottery Barn, etc. I found a whole set online at Macy''s for a price we can probably swing. Its hardwood with cherry veneers. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with their furniture? I''m not loving the veneer part but if its thick and well made then I can look past it.

I don''t have experience with their stuff, but I do know that Target''s dining room furniture is great. My brother ordered his online and it''s held up fantastically in the last five years and is still going strong. It''s probably the same price range, if not less than Macy''s.

We bought our sofa, loveseat, and two Karastan rugs from Macy''s during a sale and with coupons and we got some beautiful stuff for a great price. We are always getting compliments on the sofas especially.

For a dining set, I don''t know, but I agree with HH that Target has some beautiful dining sets that they sell online (not in stores). Our casual kitchen set is from Target and I''ve gotten compliments on it.

We are actually looking to replace it now, though, because we are redoing are kitchen, and need a set with different colors. I just found a website called diningsets.com that has a huge selection and great prices - you should check it out.

We purchased our sofa from macy''s. It''s chocolate velvet with leather and the softest thing I have ever laid on. I kept looking for a sofa with a chaise and fell in love with this one because it was so comfortable. It was a bit pricey though for a sofa from macy''s , but well worth it.
I have not purchased a dining set from them, but I think they will stand by their products.
When I received the couch, the two pieces did not match well, the chaise was a little lighter color on the leather part. They allowed me to keep it until they were able to schedule an exchange about a week later.
Also, you can purchase insurance for the furniture and it is good for 7 years. If after 7 years you don''t use it, you can call them and they will give you some credit at the store.

I wouldn''t buy anything with veneer that''s going to be enjoyed in a busy room in the house. About 3/4 of our furniture is solid wood - bookcases, bedroom set, my dresser, our dining room set - solid cherry (it weighs A TON), coffee table, etc. . .The only veneer we have include just little shelves and stuff where I put knick knacks and fun stuff on. Even our kids bed sets are solid - keep in mind we went to every furniture store we drove past to find their set. It took an entire 8 hour day but it was worth it.

If you''re going to spend money on new furniture, I''d take the time to look for solid wood OR get stuff from less expensive places, included (as mentioned) Target.

We thought of doing the furniture in the raw thing and having it finished by them but are just not sure about that. Everything they have is made of rubberwood which is apparently not super high quality... I haven''t talked to anyone who has actually had rubberwood furniture so maybe it holds up well? The rubberwood pieces are more in our price range though. Anything cherry, etc is too high. I''m too nervous to buy anything from Target because I can''t imagine its any better than Ikea plus I didn''t see anything quite the style we wanted.
