Hi, I recently bought something from Japan and am hoping that we have Japanese PS-ers or those who can help translate a gem certificate that is in Japanese language?

Help anyone?

Thank you. From a Japan seller, hence the Japanese cert. Was planning to go to a local lab to test it in case it’s totally fake and I want to ask for refund/return. And I didn’t expect a cert (seller didn’t mention but probably lost in translation ha) so was surprised to get an official looking cert, but all in Japanese so couldn’t read it.

I can't see a window at all! Seriously try to capture the window for me if you get a chance another day.

It looks pretty saturated! Very nice indeed!

Also does anyone know if Central Gem Laboratory in Japan is legit and whether I can check the gem cert online? I went to the website and it looks quite legit. But couldn’t find any link to input the cert reference and check if the cert is legit.

Thanks a lot again for any help or info anyone can provide.

Hi icy_jade, I'll check with my friend who speaks Japanese on Monday if you don't mind waiting? That is a gorgeous looking tourmaline! Is it a paraiba?

Thanks so much @missyminx ! Totally fine with waiting and thank you for taking the trouble.
Yes the seller said it’s a neon Paraiba.

Just took some pics this morning and am still out so here is a preview:

I think it has the paraiba glow and am really quite thrilled with it. Hopefully authentic...

That glow is amazing!

That is one beautiful tourmaline!

GORGEOUS!!!!!!:appl:

Oh I miss it so much @icy_jade

I miss the heat and the kuih!!!!!!

I can translate.

The result of XRF* analysis of the tourmaline is displayed above.
Copper bearing blue green tourmalines are called Paraiba tourmaline due to the name of the locality they were originally mined.
However, this does not specify the origin (of the gemstone).
The quantitative result stated in this analysis report may change due to the condition (during analysis), and it was calculated as the total quantity of all elements with atomic weight higher than sodium Na being 100. The quantitative number stated in this analysis result does not guarantee the quality of the gemstone.
* Nikon Denshi (name of the company that made the analyzer), energy dispersive fluorescence x-ray atomic analyzer (its called EDXRF in US) JSX-3201M (model number)

(In the bottom corner as disclaimer)
Gemstones are sometimes treated in various ways to improve quality, and the advances in the technologies of synthetic gemstone production make identification difficult. Central Gem Laboratory utilizes analysis methods such as FT-IR and ED XRF to provide accurate and scientific (gemstone) identification and bring peace of mind to customers.

I’m sorry about the rusty and a bit awkward translation. Hope this helps.
The report confirms the presence of copper, but not the origin. For that you need LA ICP-MS, and that may only be able to tell you which country/ continent the stone came from. I’m sure experts here have more info than me though.

Absolutely beautiful stone you have there!

Thank you so much @mockturtle. So happy to see this!!!

Do you think I should still get a local cert or is this legit? I tried searching and I do see quite a few jap sellers using this gem lab and the cert looks really good. Very official looking.

What is LA ICP-MS?

LA ICP-MS is Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry.
A small amount of sample is collected using laser beam (laser ablation) and the sample is broken down into Ions (ICP) and run through a mass spectrometer for elemental/isotopic analysis.

I wouldn’t get another certificate unless I was selling it. It looks legitimate to me.
