Any tax for import to California (diamond from Leibish)

Hi all ..
Newbie here and very new to online diamond.
I managed to find a really nice piece from Leibish. Anyone from California ever purchase from them ?
Need to make sure if there is any import tax and also how fast is the delivery ?

Are people comfortable with wire transfer to get the discount ?

I'm in the US but not in CA. I've purchased from Leibish via wire transfer and there is no import tax. Delivery was by FedEx and took less than a week (a few days).

The diamond industry generally works on low margins.
Therefore it is common to provide discounts for wire transfer - simply reducing the credit card clearance fees.

About tax fees, as far as I know, you should have no tax fees.
To be on the safe side you can always call fedex and ask them if there are fees in-case you import a diamond.

I'm in California and I've bought 20 diamonds from Leibish and have never had any import duty or taxes added.
Speed is usually two days.
They use FedEx, unless the diamond is above a certain value, in which case they use the high security shipper Malca Amit.
I don't know what at what price they stop using FedEx, perhaps $25,000 or so.

If using Malca Amit you can tell them to hold it for pick up at a Malca Amit office if you don't want an armored truck to pull up to your house.
I know they have an office in Los Angeles.
I don't know whether there are others in California.

I've wired the funds every time.
They are quite honest and I've also done 8 returns in which case they wire the money back into my account.
Here is their payment info from their FAQ:

Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. Payments may be made through bank wire transfer or via credit card through PayPal / or Google Checkout (there is service fee of 4% to use PayPal or Google).

Q. Can I pay by credit card?
A. You may pay by credit card using PayPal or Google Checkout. There is a 4% service fee to use this service. (Paying through bank wire transfer saves you 4%).
