image.jpg Trainer from the gym called me last week-- they are starting a challenge July 7 for 4 months Doung Isagenix and did I want to start with them? Well, yes. I have been sitting on the sofa basically for 2 years with health issues, so it's time now that my conditions are under control to get off the damn couch.

It arrived today. I start tomorrow with the official start in July.

I think I drink protein shakes twice a day in addition to small meals. Intermittent fasting a couple of times a month with support and supplements.... idk all the details yet.

I worked with someone recently who drinks protein shakes as part of a weight loss program. He hasn't lost any weight since I've known him for the past several years. I think stuff like this is a load of crap, sorry. Eating a plant-based, fresh foods diet and setting realistic exercise and weight loss goals is much more efficient.

Another friend has been through a 10 week Bootcamp Challenge at her gym...twice. She hasn't lost any weight, nor inches, either time.

People have made a gajillion dollars over the years selling people a dream of being thinner. Bet your trainer gets a big ol' bonus for getting people to commit to the program. You don't know all the details of the product you're supposed to consume yet but you've signed up and already paid?

I'd cancel and get your money back now. It's warm out. Start walking every day. Start eating healthier, no processed foods. You'll lose weight and be fitter...for free.
I know I'm being harsh, but I hate to see people taken advantage of.

Your reply is fine.

I did lose 4 sizes and kept it off for 4 years (until I got sick) doing protein shake within macronutrients. I don't lose weight easily. I have food allergies so protein shakes within macros eliminates plenty of issues with inflammation for me.

I also worked with a holistic nutritionist regarding the inflammation and she also placed me on protein shakes as part of a larger wellness program.

Now the other stuff in the picture-- I have no idea. We shall see.

I've been using Isagenix shakes for a decade to keep weight down. When I first started, I did the 3 day cleanse and the 60 day system. It had fewer products in the 60 day system way back then. The plan, along with regular exercise, worked for me and I lost a ton of weight. As I added regular food back into my diet, I kept the shakes as part of my overall plan. I usually have a shake for breakfast. If I put on weight, I have a shake for breakfast and dinner until I've got everything back under control.

Any diet plan has the potential to work but, and this is the hard part, it's essential to learn to eat normal foods and maintain weight. The only thing that works for me is to exercise every day a minimum of 30 minutes and eat relatively healthy. If I stop doing one or the other, I get into trouble. If I stop doing both, I gain weight just watching other people eat.

As much as I want to lose some weight, I need a turn around in energy levels. Rehab after illness is hard! I've slowly been doing more activity in my day, but I have so far to go with that.

I joined a gym that has a pool so that I can swim.

To me, weight loss is secondary to turning this sedentary life around to an active life. Once that happens, weight loss will become a priority.

I need to turn on my rehabilitation.

I did try this a few years ago. I did the 11 day cleanse. I lost 9 lbs. I think I started at 132 and dropped to 123 by the end. I gained the weight back after a month.
I need to probably do this again bc I've gained a bit of weight the past few months. It's just expensive.
Someone told me to just buy the slim fast shakes and use them to replace two meals a day. She lost 30 lbs doing this.
I think for me I need to modify my diet and do more exercise. It would probably result in more long term results for me.

Hum, the program I have has a cleanse/intermittent fasting once a week, not days in a row.

+1

Eat healthier.
Move more.

Pretend doing this is new, exciting, very expensive, trendy and has a cool name that's hard to figure out how to pronounce, and comes from Beverly Hills.

Hey Whitewave,

I have never tried this system but I too struggle with energy levels, feel like a sloth when I'm not eating well. I just wanted to mention though that intermittent fasting has not been proven effective for women because our hormones respond differently from men during stress and fasting is stressful to the body.

Honestly the only thing that has helped has been not eating gluten (and not those gluten free packaged foods). When I eat healthy and gluten free I have a ton more energy and it helps with inflammation. I don't have a horse in this race just some thoughts that might help you out.

If you want to check out an article on intermitten fasting, this is one I read when I was considering it:

There's an 11 day program. Your fast for 4 of the 11 days though, I think you do the sharks for the first two days or something and then fast for 2 days and then do the shakes for another 5 days and then cleanse the last two days.
It's officially called a nine day cleanse but it's really 11 days.

Also, if you sign up yourself you save money. You can sign up and buy all four months or one month at a time and I think you save close to $100 for each one month supply.
The link attached above shows the 9 day cleanse for $207 but I paid $145 (I think that was what it cost me, by signing up myself). I don't remember what the membership fee is but it's worth it to sign up as a member for just one month and buy your 4 month supply. You will save at least $200 - $300.
I did buy the shakes separately too so you don't have to buy all the other stuff.
My husband drinks the shakes and loves them. I liked the vanilla flavor ones. My husband adds bananas to his.

I will read the link, thanks! Yes, I am allergic to wheat, corn, soy and 3 other foods I cannot for the life of me remember right now. I need to go find my test results from a few years ago.

I think it all depends on the level of activity and metabolism. Mine is naturally lower with age, but I think that my work which is all sitting is the biggest issue. I tried to make an hour-long lunch break in the middle of the day but I usually spend the time calling, not walking.

It is my feeling that we should discuss if this shake/diet/system helps people who are active vs people who are not and have to depend on decreased food intake. There is a huge difference between the groups.

I have been both. When I first started Isagenix, I was 50 lbs over weight, mainly sedentary, and a junk food addict. I felt awful and the worse I felt, the more junk food I ate. Vicious cycle. I needed something drastic to recalibrate my eating habits and jump start my metabolism. I started with the Isagenix 9-day system which started with a 3-day fast and it was difficult. Then I transitioned to 2 meal replacements shakes and one healthy meal a day and started to feel a lot better.

I didn't begin exercising until I had lost 20 lbs then I joined a gym and began cardio and weight training. As the weight loss continued and I got into better shape, I had to start adding extra protein powder to my breakfast shake or fruit or peanut butter to increase the protein/calorie content because I was building lean muscle and burning a lot calories through exercise. When I reached my goal weight, I was in the best shape ever. I continue to have a shake for breakfast because I get up early for workouts and can't eat solid foods before working out or I get sick. I don't use any of their other products much anymore. Occasionally I'll buy a few boxes of their protein bars. I use the shakes mainly to compensate for days/weeks when my eating habits go to the dark side and I over indulge in unhealthy food. And now that the weather here is hot, I've been having 2 shakes a day as meal replacements. I lose my appetite when it's hot and the icy cold shakes are refreshing and contain sufficient protein and nutrients to keep me going. My other meal on hot days usually consists of a salad loaded with veggies.

This system is one of a very few that I see carried by doctors offices and weight loss clinics in my area.

Following. I have several friends doing this. One lost a lot of weight and she doesn't exercise. Two others are in decent shape but have used it for the energy boost it provides. I'm not overweight but I like the idea of a cleanse and maintenance that provides energy while maintaining a healthy weight. Anything that helps me to be a little more healthy.

TBH when I tried the 9 day cleanse I was very happy with the results and I was looking for a super fast weight loss product. The cleanse/fast days where very very hard but I was able to do them bc I happened to be at work. Instead of going on a lunch break I would just take quick drink breaks. I did them while I worked dayshift too so it was busy enough that's I didn't feel too hungry. I did get severe headaches from not drinking caffeine though.
My husband works out and runs so he drinks the shakes for the protein to build muscle mass.
He's lost about 30 lbs from when he started exercising and drinks one shake a day after he works out/runs. He likes the way they taste and has tried other products but he prefers the taste of the Isagenix shakes. He does not moderate his diet in anyway and basically eats whatever and whenever he wants but he has maintained his weight loss for the past two years now.
I know I need to lose some weight now as when I gain too much my reflux starts to act up and I get really had heartburn. It's time!
I'm going to start walking again and probably do some type shake system.
