Anyone getting married in San Diego?

I''m planning from afar and have a lot of trouble finding reception sites that really caught my eye. Where are you all having your weddings? Thanks!

I live in SD and if you want something "posh"...the Hotel Del Coronado is always lovely!

I agree with Tawn. The Del has no seconds. History, architecture, oceanfront, staff eager to assist. The grounds are meticulous and colorful. Red and white abounds in the exterior and staff. The grass is vivid green and flowers everywhere. The promenade deck overlooking the beach and pool....oh my. There are many Del wedding facilities. And they post this little signs during a wedding...the Wedding of Michael and Danielle here on the south lawn...Invitation only....2:30 on Saturday. Oh I love that. Coronado is quaint and island like atmosphere. Another advantage to the Del is there are many hotels in the proximity to choose from if your guests needing other accomodations.

My next choice...if I could not swing the Del...would be some place overlooking LaJolla cove...but the Del still wins for a wedding.

Tawn knows her Coronado...listen to her first instinct! As I am just a tourist. I just "exist" in my home town...but when I am in SD on Coronado...I AM "LIVING!!"

PS.. I am using a Del Coffee Mug right now!! Biased you ask? Yea baby.

ME! My fiance and I are getting married in San Diego next October 13th. Our ceremony will take place at the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church with a formal reception to follow at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. The RB inn was the first and last reception site that my fiance and I looked at. Both of their larger ballrooms are gorgeous. Our reception is going to be in their larger ballroom with the outdoor patio overlooking the golf course for the cocktail hour. They are not the cheapest place in SD but they also don''t nickle and dime you on every single thing. For example, they charge 4 bucks per car to valet, some SD hotels charge 20! bucks. Yikes! We are having around 200 guests so that would mean around 2000 bucks just for people to park their cars! Anyways, if you have any questions feel free to ask. My biggest advice is to use referrals, we have done that and our planning has been easy. Usually your reception site will have a list of vendors that are suggested and they usually are for a reason, they show up and do good work!

All of San Diego is beautiful, but the ocean is the best part! So, try to get something close to the coast if at all possible, and check out the amazing sunsets almost every night!

I briefly looked into the Hotel Del, but it''s insanely expensive (like 40K for 150 people). My budget will be more like 20K.

OH poo! Can''t you shave a few off his list? Just kidding. Sounds like the other posters have some ideas...I agree with Tawn...anywhere in SD is beautiful. Keep us posted on what you find.

My parents live in Carmel Mtn. and the country club there is very beautiful. I think that they didn''t go up to 200 guests which is what I needed. Our estimate for the reception at the RB Inn is around 30 K right now but I think it will end up being about 5000 less because they budgeted for people to drink one drink an hour, after an open bar (the first hour is included in the package), 2 bottles of wine per table (also in our package), and champagne toast. I think if they have like 5 drinks after that we would have 200 drunk people on our hands! I think it is reasonable to assume 2 more drinks per person after that. Most of my relatives don''t drink. Anyways, I am off on a tangent....LOL
