Anyone have any luck selling their Diamond ring (3ct plus) on their own?

Def try Jewels by Grace! This is her expertise! My first OMB sold in 48 hours, but my last OEC didn’t sell… I think because she had so much inventory with similar specs… it appears a lot has sold or moved. Consignment is always a gamble! If you can sell through pre-loved it might be your best bet!

Regarding who I consigned with…because this particular vendor doesn’t typically take outside client consignments I can’t openly share… I’m sorry. I already had a relationship with this person. Def try pre-loved if you can, you will end up with more money in your pocket!

I agree with preloved, consignment you dont have much control, you can always do it if you cant sell on your own. I would lose 30% to consignment or the price is jacked up so it doesnt sell, so i just price it 25% less, its win win for me and the buyer, it's listed cheaper so it sells faster. That being said, be smart about it, scammers exist, so use your judgement and take steps to be safe. I always do an invoice (unless I know them through here) and I always ship overnight insured fedex.

If its a high price item you can use an appraiser to help escrow the money/item etc. Cost you a little bit more but reduces the
worrying.

1. I’m in Europe
2. The diamond isn’t certified

So my initial thought was to send it to JBEG or Andria Barbone so they can help with the admin of sending it off to GIA…and then sell it on consignment once it’s certified. AB gave the go-ahead about a year ago, I haven’t spoken to them since. Mainly because I wasn’t sure I was going to sell it.

It is such a hassle trying to sell an uncertified stone from Europe, really.

Do you have any other ideas as to how I can go about this? I would obviously like to try to sell it through preloved on PS, but I’m not a particularly active or well-known poster, but I guess there’s no harm in trying -except the fact that I need to get that cert somehow.

No worries!!!

I’ve played with the thought of trying pre-loved, but the stone being uncertified and all, makes it a bit complicated. And add me being in Europe to the equation…

How big is the stone? Some people sell uncertified stones on Preloved. It’s not a requirement that it be certified.

2.40-2.60 according to the measurements. It was sold to me as a 2.50 from a reputable auction house here.

I agree with @Mreader , assuming its priced right you can still try it. Its definitely harder when you're overseas, for us, its easy to send to GIA :( What about just a local appraiser so they at least can say its a real diamond? I have done that on pieces I sell so that people know its legit...

@Viola why not post it on preloved? It’s beautiful and the price point you paid would not be unreasonable for listing it there.

It’s beautiful! Did you ever send it off GIA? I love it!!! I would be interested in it!

No, I never got around to it because I wasn’t thinking of selling the ring. And I’m in Europe, so it makes the logistics a bit complicated.

It really is such a beautiful diamond, and so special that it comes with its original setting from 1940’s. I get so many compliments on the stone, it can really hold its own.

I guess I have some thinking to do, and see if I’ll try putting it up here one PS.

@Viola if you were to decide to list it on here on Preloved it is quite easy. The only thing you'll have to do is list it on another site, Loupetroop is a favorite and It is free. There is no sharing of emails here on Pricescope. When you list it there, people will have a way to reach you.

Good luck with your decision! If you do decide to list it here, I'd love it if you felt comfortable letting me know.

Plenty of people here, myself included, to walk you through the listing process. If I can do it anyone can!

I have no doubt you get many compliments, I can see why. It is beautiful!
