Anyone have pave diamonds on top of the prongs?

IMO, I think diamonds on the top of prongs is highly distracting. It makes the prongs chunky and my eye goes straight to them instead of the diamond. Obviously it's a matter of personal taste, but I certainly wouldn't do it.

I know what you mean, but I have a rose gold setting, so the prongs already contrast with the stone. Given that, I think it might be nice since I'm not crazy about the plain metal prongs and very picky.

My question is if there is already a contrast due to the rose gold, do you want to enhance that with larger prongs which will hold diamonds on the top? For me, since there is already that contrast, I would not make it more obvious. I would enjoy the rose gold with the rest of ring....just not with the those prongs. Have you thought about doing "claw" prongs?

I have a ring - as many of us do - with pave going up the prongs, but not on top. I already worry about the pave every time I bang the prongs, but I think it even more likely that would be damaged if on the tip of the prongs :blackeye:

That is a a look I have not seen in real life, but it makes the prongs a definite part of the overall design rather than something that blends in and makes the diamond the star. I'm not sure how you would add this to your existing ring. Do you have a picture of your ring?
Here are some pictures I found googling. Sorry, no real life rings.

The claw prongs might be a good suggestion! I will ask about that, thanks.

Good! Clunky prongs (which are basically inevitable when there are diamonds on the top of prongs) are just not attractive and take away from the rest of the ring. No matter if the the metal is rose, white or yellow you don't want prongs to be the first thing that people notice instead of the "main attraction"!

I have seen one deseigner, I think it was Diadori, that has diamonds as part of the prongs. I remember they were all "6-prongs" settings but the 2 "side" (horizontal) prongs had diamonds with regular prongs on the other 4. It was an interesting setting. From the top view, it looks like a 3-stone setting, but it is truly a 6 modified prong setting.

I do agree with Orbaya that it would be a rare case where diamonds like that didn't make the prongs look clunky and take away from the center stone.

I don't like the look at all. They just end up looking like big chunky prongs in my opinion. I would go for claw prongs if you can.
