Aqua cab full of resin treatment

I do not buy beads so this is new to me, but I buy cabochons and would definitely want to know if it has been treated in any shape, form or fashion because it matters very much to me. Does this mean I should never buy beads because almost most of them are treated? It will be very expensive to have every bead checked out!

Labs are always one step, sometimes even two steps, behind the latest treatment. Other examples include when diffusion was first detected, it was months after they flooded the market, hence rousing suspicion..

It's just a scary world out there...What's next? Kornerupine? Taaffeite? Hackmanite? Diaspore? Is it even safe to buy these rare stones?

Most beads are treated in some way Chrono. Dyed agate is awash in the market AND the dye comes off on your skin unless you wash it before adding it to jewellery!!!!

Luckily the market for the rare stones is so small that its not commercially viable to spend much time or money making fakes or treating material. The market has to be large enough to create broad demand and yet the material has to be scarce enough to justify a higher price. Think emerald--lots of it treated and dyed since the demand is high, supply is scarce. On the other hand morganite is much rarer--so the demand is low, meaning the prices are low too. Very little morganite out there is treated beyond irradiation, and that's only done on top-grade material to enhance the color. Hopefully that makes sense.

If someone in the trade knows if they're doing this treatment to more gem quality deep blue expensive aqua, that would be nice, and what the results are. Aqua is generally a very clean stone, but who knows how well they can get the clarity, especially on deep blue and more highly prized material. I just don't know, but if someone does, than please let us. I don't want people to stop buying aqua because of this thread. I only posted it as an FYI and some people care about clarity treatment, even on inexpensive cabs.

Thanks for the trade opinions as always. :twirl:
