are stones still not taxable?

Does anyone know if imported colored stones are still not taxable? Fedex is giving me incredibly hard time, today they called asking me to confirm that the package contained STONES, and of course they never answer the phone. Are faceted stones not taxable?

If you're receiving, there should be no duty on those stones.

Thank you, Arcadian! I sent them an e-mail explaining that these were not just stones but faceted stones and as such exempt from tax. I added that I specifically consulted with a specialist on this matter. They said my package was on my way.

Thats very strange! I've gotten stones through fedex without any of that.

No tax whatsoever if you are receiving them in the USA. Doesn't matter where the stones are from.

Loose stones supposedly create a job for an American, no tax. I have heard Fed Ex works very closely with US Customs. Lee
