Hi all. Long time lurker. I''ve learned a ton from PS and it has been invaluable in my search for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I''ve settled on a stone (1.30 ct princess; I color (GIA); VS2 clarity; 70.86% Table; 73.32% Depth; the ASET and idealscope images are beauties and it gets and "0" when run through the AGS Performance Grading Software). But enough about the stone.
My question/issue is with the setting, particularly the prongs. I had settled on the Gabriel 4181, in large part because my girlfriend fell in love with an identical ring. I''ve (hopefully) attached a standard picture of the ring, but pictures can also be found here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/1-3-isee2-h-a-on-tiffany-novo-replica.95624/. The picture I included, and the pictures in the threads, show the ring with either a round or a cushion cut stone - not a princess. What I want to know is whether this ring, specifically with the prongs shown, work with a princess cut? My jeweler is incredibly reliable and I trust him when he says that setting the stone with the standard prongs shown above will not present a problem and will be sufficient to protect the stone. Nevertheless, I wanted to see what people here thought. Has anyone had had any experience either specifically with this ring or using these prongs with a princess cut stone? Is the stone at serious risk of being chipped?
(By way of background Gabriel makes this ring with a head that is designed for a princess that includes the "V" prongs but the head seems too bulky and I''m not totally in love with it so that option is out).
Your comments and opinions would be much appreciated.
