Are these earrings worth getting?

Please be honest with me! Debating getting them custo made into 14K....

They are pretty, imo, but this is a dealbreaker for me: "Sapphire is commonly subjected to enhancement processes or treatments such as heating and diffusion..."

Heating is one thing but anything else is unacceptable to almost anyone here (except for rubies for some PSers and emeralds for most).

It would not be possible to match that price with stones you source and earrings that you custom build.

Well I think they're rather lovely! It's just a matter of understanding what you're getting. The sapphires are at least heated, but more likely diffused. The price is right, plus there are coupons out there. But I wouldn't bother resetting them in 14k. I think they look great as-is.

Jinx. :)

It depends on what your tolerance is for those stones. Diffused sapphires are not worth anywhere near the heated only counterparts. I think the price is fair retail. It's not a bargain, but not crazy either. Even 10K is costly these days.

Have you seen these in person?

I only ask because it's hard to judge real color from photos -and- as you may be aware, the sapphires are small (3mm). Nothing wrong with that (I think they are pretty) but just mentioning it in case you haven't seen them in person.

As others have said, it's not a bargain and the treatments are unknown.. but the price is okay if you love them and will get a lot of wear from.

If you are looking to get something (custom made) in 14K, I would definitely pass.

Love the design. For my personal taste & preferences, would probably pass at this price, just because most of the tiny/pave accent diamonds I've seen at Kay have been low grade/murky quality. I'm sure there are exceptions though, and at least there is a return policy if you aren't 200% pleased with them! I tend to take my chances buying preloved pieces, which is not for everyone, but allows me to find a good quality "base" in which to place a quality cut stone.

Definitely not, because Kay's quality is notoriously awful, and everything is overpriced. You can find something similar looking that is probably much nicer

One more thing -- they are really tiny. There are no actual dimensions and although they look pretty big on my monitor, they are no bigger than those almost-invisible little scroll backs.

I'd skip, these are not photos of the actual stones you'll recieve, they're just representative images. Which may be a good thing as there's a lot of brown in those stones. At that ct weight they'll also be very small in real life and there's no way to judge the daimond melee in that photo either. By the time you've paid to get them custom made in 14 k you'll have removed any discounts you might have recieved from the fact that they're mass produced, but you probably will be stuck with the poor quality control from the mass manufacturing process. Finally ditto others they may be diffused or heavily treated. Its hard to maintain the supply to support a mass manufacturing job where every pair is almost identical, unless you agree to work with very small, semi precious, or treated stones which are plentiful (and sometimes more than one of these is the case).

I'd have bought these instead and set them in simple prong settings

Or have looked at one of the vendors who went to tucson and has a lot of small stones from the show like desertrosegems.

Can you cut some squares out of paper in 3.5 mm by 3.5 mm first? You might be surprised by how small this is.

It says the stones are 3mm and less than 0.25ct in the description. Indeed tiny but that bothers me more is that the picture is most certainly not representative of how the product looks in person - like the gems from AJS, their photos could not be less representative (although the will happily provide additional pictures upon request)

Decided to pass on the earrings, the sale ended & they are now $399. Thanks everyone.
