Hi, kind of a lurker here. I posted about a month ago when I was having doubts about my center stone. It is decided. We have the center stone, a .90C VS1, E color Emerald Cut.

My boyfriend works in jewelry, he''s not a jeweler himself, just in the marketing depart for an e-tailer. We were looking for two .25 C side stones.

I really wanted trilliants as the side stones, I figured they would give the ring the brilliance that the EC lacks, while still having clean lines and geometric feel. Baguettes were my last resort.

Turns out after weeks of searching (basically means he calls people, tells them what he is looking for, and they get back to him), the trailliants will be cost prohibitive. I don''t know if it''s because of the difficulty in finding trilliants to match the center stone, or what, but he said triliants to match the center stone are much more expensive than baguettes.

I asked about .25 bagillions, kites, or bullets and he said any "fancy" cut will cost a lot more.

My next option was to suggest .25 EC''s, and if that wouldn''t work out, then baguettes.

Has this been your experience?
