Usually VS1 will be eyeclean but there can be exceptions, this thread explains further. The inclusions you mention should not be visible to the naked eye but it never hurts to check by asking the vendor.Date: 5/18/2009 2:22:02 PM

Can you see VS1 inclusions with your naked eye? More specifically, are inclusions like internal graining and surface graining visible? Should I stay away from a VS1 diamonds with these inclusions?

Thanks for your responses, beach and lorelei. Does it matter with a particular color? For example, can you see inclusions if the diamond is colorless, like a D VS1?

The color of a diamond should have no real effect on the visibility of inclusions. There could be contrast issues that might make inclusions seem more visible due to the difference of color in the body color and of the inclusion.

a. Guess I am the exception then.
got a GIA E VS1 diamond two weeks ago from Blue Nile, I manage to see the inclusions from the side. Very small, but visible in front of my low volt bed lamp light.
Had to return it, as it bothers me.
Good luck. To all of us.![]()

I am sure you will receive many comments that diamonds are graded from the top, and they are, yet it is also not uncommon for some to be bothered by this.Date: 5/18/2009 4:01:17 PM
