i normally keep my nails short and unpainted, so i'm debating whether to have them done for my wedding day, i know most people get french manicures and pedicures, but i was curious if anyone was doing anything different or if anyone was planning on staying au naturale

I still haven''t decided but I saw a brides nails in a Bridal magazine and she had acrylic nails with a french manicure and on her forth finger she had diamontes.. similar to the ones below. It looked gorgeous

I am booked into the White Lotus Tropical Day Spa the day before our wedding for a deluxe manicure and deluxe pedicure. Over two hours of pampering for my tootsies and hands. I can''t wait!!!!! I might even throw in a quick massage while I am there

I did a french manicure for my hands and red for my toes (request of my husband-to-be

. If you do not fancy colour, i would say just get your nails cleaned and shaped. There will be a lot of attention showered on your hands that day!!

Hands: OPI''s I will take the cake
Toes: OPI''s Chick Flick Cherry

I''m not doing French (never been much of a fan), but I will get a mani-pedi the day before and it''ll likely be in a neutral light pink or beige polish. Nothing different from what I usually get.

yeah but i don''t know what! normally i just get a light glossy pink. has anybody ever had gel nails? what are they like? i had acrylics WAY back but the person who did them made them very thick and they were not natural looking to me.

I will get a manicure and pedicure with fairly neutral, pink-y colors. For other people''s weddings in the past, I would always get a french manicure (with tips) but problem is...that looks great for a week, then my nails are ruined for a month. It''s just not worth it to me! So, I will get something pretty simple and clean.

I splurged on a spa pedicure (literally one of the best I''ve ever had, my heels were soooo smooth!) and I had my perfectionist MOH do my nails. It wasn''t a manicure by any means, but she did a really nice french manicure on them. I have really white nails, so I often will just wear light pink or clear on them. You can''t tell it''s not actually a french manicure.

I don''t think you HAVE to have your nails done or painted in any particular way. I think you should feel beautiful, top to bottom on your day, and if that means not painting you nails, then leave them bare. Just makes sure they''re trimmed and filed neatly and your cuticles are in good shape.

I''m going to be getting a very natural looking french manicure with acrylic nails with very short and natural looking nails.

I've never had gel nails (only acrylics way back in high school), but my mom has them and they really do look great and very natural. Problem is just the maintenance every 3 or so (I think) weeks.

I''ve got an appointment today for a mani/pedi for my wedding on Saturday. I''m thinking I''ll get a pale polish on them, so they''ll look good in the hand shots.

Also, my fiance is getting his nails done too, but no polish for him.

I will be getting acrylics and french manicure for the big day. Also my toes will be red. ;-)
I''ve had gels, they are nice b/c there is no polish, so can''t chip, but they cost soo much more than acrylics and I dont think they are worth the extra expense. Rather put that into a spa pedicure IMO!

I had gel for my wedding and it looked really pretty! The problem with gel though is that is can crack and chip easier than acrylic. I had them done a few days before the wedding and one of my thumbs chipped and I had to get it fixed the day of the wedding. But it''s a lot easier on your nails. After taking it off my nails aren''t all thin and horrid. They''re just like normal.

I''m going to bring my own bottle and get them painted in vamp

I would suggest having them done anyway. I didn''t do a french manicure either, just a neutral pink, but the manicure really cleans them up and makes them look nice. Remember... you''re probably going to have pictures taken of your hands!

I usually have short nails because I really do not like longer nails. Also, I admit I am nail biter!

My stylist picked up a set of the old school press-on nails which she will use professional glue to attach. That way, I can get the length without all the acrylic work. Seemed like a waste of time when I would more than likely pry the nails off immediately following the wedding. My stylist is painting the nails in a french manicure but instead of the white tips, she will do red to match my gown. I wasn''t going to have my toes done but because the shoes i wound up buying are open toe, I will probably have my toes painted red.

Honey I like the way you think!

I want a mani/pedi similar to a lot of other girls here......pale pink on my fingernails and shaped but no fake nails. As for my toes I''m going PINK!

ooh, thanks for all the ideas, ladies! i will most likely go for a mani/pedi the weekend prior, but i just wasn''t sure how to get them done since it''s something i rarely do, i''m sure FI will have some input

I can''t decide. I will definitely do my own toenails a day or two before, because I usually keep them nicely painted anyway. I never paint my nails though and get really OCD at the slightest chip or smudge, so I dunno if it''s a good idea ... I might just do it myself a day or two before and if I hate it, I can take it off. I don''t want to pay to have it done and then end up removing it because I can''t stand the inevitable teeny smudge.

I am- but I ways have a gel french on them, so I am going to keep that. I am also going to get a french on my toes.

i normally don''t put much effort into my nails other than keeping them neat and trim, so all this nail attention on the wedding day is pretty strange to me at least, hehe

My advice to anyone who has a feeling that they even MIGHT want their nails to be pretty and painted vs. pretty and natural or at least trimmed nicely, etc.: get it done professionally. I decided not to got to the red door spa a few days before because I was hesitant to spend the money and so tried the morning of the wedding to do my own nails. Disassssster!! So I made an emergency appointment at my friend's nail salon (I don't get my nails done..I had to frantically find a salon!) and got them done. Then I preceded to mess my nails up like 3 times because I was so nervous, lol. I gave the girl a huge tip for all the trouble I caused..but either way it was unnecessary stress. So get your nails done professionally probably the day before or early morning of if you have a later in the day wedding if you think you might want them to be "done" at all. Remember there will likely be photos of your hands!

ETA: And I also had a pink color..no french.

thank you for the tips, sarah! i wouldn''t even try doing my nails on a regular day, i couldn''t imagine trying it on my wedding day, aah!

I''m not into nail polish at ALL (random side note, I don''t seem to see ANYONE wearing it anymore... isn''t that weird??), but I bought some light pink essie polish for the wedding day. I completely forgot about it until about 20 minutes before the ceremony! Whoops.

I think I''m a lost cause when it comes to nail polish.

I got a mani/pedi. I really hate fake nails so that was not an option for me! The polish was a light silver with a slight sparkle. I should have paid attention to the name because I loved it...it was an OPI polish. Since my dress was pink I didn''t want to do pink.

thanks, thing! i''m off to peruse the OPI nail polish shelves

i love Essie polish. They have a whole line of bridal polishes.

my favorite is ballet slipper.

Also, just FYI, I know on natural nails at least that getting one coat on your nails tends to last longer than two. (kind of counter-intuitive, i know) So just something to think about when you get a manicure.

I used OPI Hopelessly in Love. It''s a very pretty, natural-looking pink.

I''ll *most likely* do French polish- it''s a nice, clean look to me. However, I will NOT get acrylic nails. I got them once and it was the worst thing ever! My nails were ruined for the next 3 months!

Thanks Sassy! I booked and organised money for it months ago, so it wouldn''t be left out of the budget later down the track. I think it''s important for your hands and feet to look and feel great too.

These posts have got me thinking, maybe I will do a very pale pink instead of a stark white french. Maybe a very thin layer of white tips, then a pinky colour over that, to tone down the starkness a bit.

I am with you on the fake nails, sorry if I offend anyone, but I have yet to see a set of acrylics that didn''t look plastic. Short natural nails look much nicer IMHO, or even a set of gels, they don''t have that cheap look about them.
