do you listen with your right or left ear when talking on the phone?

Depending on the topic of the conversation.... I listen with either my brain or my heart.... and sometimes both. The ear does not matter.

Perry

Aww Perry, what a nice answer!

Dfire, I''m a right eared person. I have hearing loss in my left, so I can barely hear a thing when I hold a phone up to that ear.

ETA: now that I think about it, I only use my left when I'm driving.. when I use the phone at work, it's always my right ear

Right - I''m right handed as well...

Interesting??? I have no idea ? Will have to pay attention to it and then post..

LOL! DF, you come up with the most off-the-wall questions!

I always listen with my right ear when I''m on the phone, but I think that''s just because I''m right handed.

Dancing...

That is obviously not a true statement in that it cannot be held to apply to all people and situation. While there may be some study out there that implies that in general people may have (and I emphasize may as many IQ and other test have biases built into them) have some difference in IQ; it cannot be held to apply to any specific individual.

Does the individual have a hear better in one ear. Is the phone set such that it is more convienient to answer with one hand, and many other variables come into play.

In my case I use either - or both - ears depending on the situation. If the phone is on my left I tend to grab it with my left hand and hold it to my left ear. If it is on the right I tend to grab with my right hand and hold it to my right ear (and I have phones in both positions at home and at work). If I wish to multitask with the phone nearer I tend to hold it in my left hand to my left ear while I work the computer or write with my right hand. If I get a phone call while cuddling with someone I will use the oposite ear. When driving I switch off depeding on the situation and what I need my hand for. This probably does not cover all situations.

This of course does not even cover all the times I use the speakerphone where I am using both ears.

I have no idea which ear I would tend to use if all I was doing was talking on the phone and the phone was in a neutral position...

cell phone right, regular phone left.

My cell phone holder is on my right hip so that is the hand I grab it with.

Left for land line, cell phone right ear. Land line is closer to the left. Crazy as I lost some hearing in my left ear, but not ready for hearing aids yet.

DF, you crack me up with your daily questions.

I am going to guess most people use their dominant hand to hold the phone so usually that''s the ear they use too. Unless the phone is closer to the other side and thus more convienient to hold with the closer hand.

I''m left handed and I always listen with my left ear. I even wear my bluetooth on that side because it is more comfortable.

so far we have two with higher QI and a few...

I use both ears, no joke. Not at once, but I swap between.

What does that say about me?

My left. I''m deaf on the right.

LS

Only my right, but I can''t hear very well out of my left. I technically don''t have a hearing loss, but things never sound clearly if I use my left ear, and I always switch back to my right!

I''m right handed, but always use my left ear - probably so I can doodle at the same time...

I am right handed and use my left ear. I don''t hear as well from my right.

Both; it depends on how long the convo is and if it is long I switch from time to time.

I listen with my left ear and am right handed. (and that is for my cell phone - I don't have a land line.)

Right eared, right handed, but left eye dominant which is awkward when using a loupe!

I''m right handed but I listen with my left ear when I''m on the phone. Interesting, I''ve never thought about that.

So are you ever going to tell us which ear means higher IQ?
3.gif

Left ear. Both cell and land line, only left ear.

I''m ambiaural. I can use either ear

always with the left

Left at work, Right with my cell phone.

Side note: I attended a class on how to organize your desk so that it doesn''t affect your body. For example, how to sit properly in your chair, how to type, how to position the monitor, etc. One of the things they mentioned is that if you''re right handed, your phone should be on your left. Something about the coordination (don''t remember LOL)
