The Fancy Vivid Purplish Pink rounds please, although if I have to call for pricing, it means I cannot afford it.

I agree, Chrono! The purplish pink is what caught my eye.

Beautiful stones.... Delicious!

I must be nuts, but I prefer stones that are more pink. I guess I just have to see a red diamond in person :naughty:

Mine is a purplish red, but it's a stunner! Of course, I think that about all my fcds. I like pinks too.
And these are beautiful! Thanks Kee!

Nearly fell out of my chair when I saw Lot 7. That stone is one of the most beautiful that I've seen Argyle produce.  :cheeky:

At least shipping is free. The .61 carat even has a decent cut.

What about Lot 29? .59ct FIPP, radiant. Not as stunning as the vivid round, but still beautiful.

I noticed there was a lot of gray modification in the blue stones of this year's tender. I asked if there were any unmodified blues offered in the 2012 tender and Leibish said no, they were all pretty strongly gray. Many were blue modified grays, instead of gray modified blues. Argyle's quality has been declining over the last couple of years. Other than Lot 7, which is one of the most stunning pinks I remember ever seeing, past tenders have been more impressive. I still wouldn't kick any of them out of bed though...

You are not alone!! I, also, prefer more pink diamonds to the red/pinks ;))

I looked through their list of Argyle Pink diamonds and there are a number of them that are less than $10,000. Of course, they are small, but heck, my first diamond was only 0.18 ct.

Yes, I'm also drooling over Lot 7.
What a killer pink diamond!

Leibish won almost a quarter of the 2012 Tender, 17 of 70.

Here are 16 of them.

But they also have a place on their site where they discuss the decline in the quality of even the best stones coming from the dying Argyle mine.

Those slides tell a disappointing story Kenny  The 0.6 is a beauty  I confess the purple/blue ones don't do anything for me at all though.

Those diamonds are just sexy. No other word for it :)

I guess all good things must come to an end but I wish it is later rather than sooner. I prefer red and purplish pink over a straight pink but would never turn one down. It's a pity there aren't any decent blues this round either.

Also, the mine's decline is worse than those charts indicate since they were based on 2011 Tender data.
2012 is even worse.

2011's smallest was 0.30 ct.
This year they tendered four smaller than that, two 0.29 ct and two 0.24 ct.
Out of 70 there were only nine over 1 ct and the largest was only 1.32 ct.
I think is is also the first year they've sold lots of melee in the tender, all were pale blue.

Clarity breakout:

0 FL
0 IF
0 VVS1
1 VVS2
6 VS1
14 VS2
9 SI1
26 SI2
13 I1
1 I2

I think the 0.27 Fancy Deep Purplish Pink VVS1 emerald cut I bought a few years back might qualify for Tender if it was mined today.
Of course that wouldn't mean it is a bette stone, just that the mine is declining.

I'm considering getting one short side of the girdle touched on a polishing wheel, since a shallow natural (pic below) is the only flaw on the GIA report; maybe it could get an IF grade. :Up_to_something:
If anyone was thinking of ever grabbing Argyle pink I'd try to grab one ASAP.

If that's the only flaw and it's external why doesn't it already qualify for IF? Wouldn't it be the only thing preventing an FL grade?

Isn't a natural considered a blemish and therefore would not change the grading if removed? There has to be something going on to get GIA to grade it VVS1. Maybe they can tell you more if you call them with the cert #?

So I asked after Lot 7. A mere $210,550 if anyone is interested. :naughty:

There's a 100 million lotto draw next Tuesday and a syndicate of 25 coworkers are going in on it together. I signed up because Lot 7 will be mine if I win. And if I lose, the wasted $5 was a proverbial drop in the FCD bucket.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Wohoo! Good luck, ginger. :))

Yssie and Bryan.
Sorry, I haven't forgotten your questions.
I'm just doing things to pursue answers.

Ginger: good luck and please feel free to shower us all with little baubles if you win
