Hello all!

For those of you that are having readers during your ceremony, who picked the reading? Did you pick it? Did you narrow down a selection and have your reader choose from there? Or did you give your reader full reign?

Thanks!

~Lisa

Although we''re not really to that part of the planning yet, my FI and I have already discussed readings (because I came across one I adore). So I think we will be picking the readings, but I don''t think there''s anything wrong with letting your readers pick if they would want to, although some people may not want that pressure. I know if I was a reader, I would prefer to be told what I was reading.

Our minister picked ours. I would have preferred to have more of a say but c''est la vie when you''re doing a DW in a foreign country.

I have two MOHs and they''ll both be doing a reading. I came across two that I love and let them pick which they''d like to do.

I was given what to read in the one wedding that I read in.

BUT FI''s sister is getting her PhD in English, so I may let her pick a few and then pick one that she suggests, just because I know she would pick something unique and lovely.

We had one individual reading that a college friend of mine recited and then a reading for all of our parents to recite together.

We picked both ourselves (in fact, I wrote the entire ceremony myself, too!) mainly b/c it was easier for our readers. But I think if you have someone who might have something in particular they''d want to read, by all means let them run it by you.

Our church gave us choices, I picked 2 and assigned them to my readers

We''re picking all the readings ourselves. I want to know exactly what they''re going to be reading.

We have picked two readings and then given them to our Mum''s to read on the day of the wedding. We picked a funny one and a more serious one, and my Mum actually begged for the funny one so she wouldn''t be a blubbering mess. So cute

That''s what I''m going to do for mine.

We picked 8 or 10 we liked. Then emailed them to our two readers. They picked the one they liked. (We emailed them one at a time. Once the first person had chosen, we sent the remainder of the selections to the second reader).

There is one reading that I heard a few years back and I just knew that was going to be read at my wedding.
I also heard a poem Carrie read in SATC and I think its lovely, but first I will ask if our friend has any suggestions. If not.. then that poem is in

I''m planning on having one of my friends read that poem during our ceremony! I love it...plus, she''s a huge SATC fan so I know she''ll love it too!

I haven''t decided how many readings we''ll be having, but I already have some picked out and I''ll probably let the readers select from my shortlist.

Thanks everyone! Great advice! I was worried it''d come across as bridezilla-y to select the reading too. But I can see how that simplifies it for the readers :)

I had two readers at my wedding as well...

My first reader was a good friend of mine from HS. She is and always has been very religious, so she did a reading my officiant recommended.

My second reader, my best friend also my MOH, did a reading from Sex and The City...the one Carrie wrote for her friends wedding. I know that probably sounds odd...but we both loved the show, and it tied in a personal touch/interest.

I love that poem from SATC. That''s a great idea!
