Hey there. This is my first post, but the information here has been of great value in my hunt for a diamond.

I think I am down to two possibilities, and the price difference is less than 200 dollars so I thought I would post them and see if anyone wants to let me know how they would choose.

Of the two, I prefer #1. What is the crown height on it.

I prefer the photo of #1, but like everyone else, just looking for crown height to make a final call. I''m a lover of the deep corners, though, so that looks like one that I would definitely buy.

You don''t have an ASET or IS on either diamond, do you?

I am now being told Monday or Tuesday for determining the crown height.

I am leaning toward #2 because of the wider corners.

Hi Andy

An ASET image and the crown height is essential, so post that info when you get it. Although I can''t tell much initially and Karl''s advice is especially what you need, the first one appears to have the most potential from the photo.

I also prefer the first, with the crown height you want at least 10% and above.

I''m also concerned about a lack of defined concentric octagons in the picture, under the table of the first specimen.

Andyhoppy, have you see the Octavia Asscher?
I bought one and it is an amazingly bright ball of colored fire.

Years ago I also bought an excellent conventional Asscher and I love them both equally.
IMHO, anyone considering an Asscher should take a look at the Octavias.

Octavias are sold by the Pricescope vendor Good Old Gold, here and I heard they have some in the 1.5 to 1.7 carat range coming soon.

Searching for a good conventional asscher is difficult; it's like finding a needle in a haystack.
One of the beauties of branded asschers like Royal Asscher or Octavia is you don't have to search for a good one.
Like an ACA any Octavia you pick will meet the brand's superb cut standards.

I saw an Octavia last weekend... I think it was a 1.05ish I. it indeed was a ball of fire, and it didn''t look like an I. More like a brilliant cut than a step cut in appearance, I think. I took it out of consideration for that reason. But it was magnificent. The huge crown and tiny table were very unique.
