I'm trying to upgrade my stone from a princess to an asscher, and found two stones on WF that I'm interested in. I'm just not sure what has the best stats. WF can't get the idealscope yet on them as I have to send my diamond to them to be verified for tradeup before they can get the stones in. (They're not in house) I'm not very well versed on asschers which is why I'd like some input. I'm looking at a .85 ct, .91ct and a 1.0 ct as I really think the visual difference face up will be negliglble. There is one stone that I am thinking is the best, but I will leave that out so I can see if my instincts are correct

1st diamond
. Report: GIA
. Shape: Asscher
. Carat: 0.85
. Depth %: 67.6
. Table %: 67
. Girdle:
. Measurements: 5.28-5.27X3.56
. Polish: Very Good
. Symmetry: Very Good
. Culet: None
. Fluorescence: None
$2900
These worry me slightly. Am I correct???

Diamond 2
Report: GIA
. Shape: Asscher
. Carat: 0.91
. Depth %: 71.2
. Table %: 61
. Girdle:
. Measurements: 5.13-5.13X3.65
. Polish: Excellent
. Symmetry: Very Good
. Culet: None
. Fluorescence: None

I'm a little concerned with the depth in this one, and with the fact that it's $2700.

Diamond 3

. Report: GIA
. Shape: Asscher
. Carat: 1.00
. Depth %: 69.5
. Table %: 60
. Girdle:
. Measurements: 5.55-5.48X3.81
. Polish: Very Good
. Symmetry: Excellent
. Culet: None
. Fluorescence: None
$3400

Thanks for all of your help (and Kenny, I'm expecting you to answer

Hi Princess

Kenny hasn''t been around recently to my knowledge but he might answer if he is online. As to your selections, its difficult to tell with just the basic info as it only gives a chalk outline of the stones. See what Karl K says as he might be around later, for me any of them could theoretically be good diamonds but personally I would work with numbers 2 and 3 intially.

Thanks Loreli! I feel slightly more confident knowing that my reservations about #1 are valid, and the diamond that I''m leaning towards is one of the two
2.gif

I know that it''s very hard to tell based on the stats alone, but I completely trust that WF will make sure the stone is excellent. I just feel like I need to narrow down my possibilities from ~8 diamonds to a more reasonable 2

You are welcome! The first might be ok its just that the depth and table are a bit close so out of the three I would probably lean towards the other two at first. The stone could be ok with a decent crown height, WF might be able to find this out for you if you do decide to call this one in.

See what Karl suggests, he should materialize later on!

Hi princessplease,

So exciting that you're upgrading!! Just wanted to let you know that asschers are like princess cuts in that they face up small for their carat weight because they are cut so deep compared to a round. In that size range in a round, you could get a 6.2mm stone or even bigger! But if you are set on an asscher, hopefully Karl or Stone-cold will be around to help once you have ASET images. Good luck!

Thanks Lalia. I am pretty well versed on princesses, but my stone is from WF''s ES, and it was very easy to pick a wonderful stone with the AGS report, sarin and idealscope reports right there

WF told me yesterday that they should have my diamond verified within a week of getting it, which is when they can request the stones for idealscope images. I just don''t want them to have to gather 8 stones, lol!

You will do fine PP, see what WF and Karl suggest, he is the asscher expert around here and having his advice would be invaluable. Wait and see what he says, he should be along later.

Color and clarity? Keep it VS2/H or above to be safe.

#3 might be good, also #2 (that one is a little deep). Need pics. You really need to see it before you buy it.

Thanks again Loreli. I fully trust WF, and am excited to see if Karl''s suggestion matches what my gut says

What is the color and clarity on them?

Assuming its reasonable then the odds are best with #3 and I would find a 4th to consider.

This one looks interesting if they can get it in:
1.03 G VS2 68.1% 58% GIA stk-tk no vg vg 5.58x5.49x3.74 $3141 (not the WF price but they should be close)

Definitely....

Karl and Loreli

Diamond 1 is a G, VVS2 (How did I forget the specs!)
Diamond 2 is a E, VS2
Diamond 3 is a G, VS2

All GIA cert.

The lowest price on the diamonds of those specs from WF is $4021.

I'm glad you materialized, Karl

There is one more I just found:
. Report: GIA
. Shape: Asscher
. Carat: 0.80
. Depth %: 69.1
. Table %: 57
. Girdle: TK
. Measurements: 5.18-5.15X3.56
. Polish: Very Good
. Symmetry: Excellent
. Culet: None
. Fluorescence: None
E, VS2

Again, I''m just trying to narrow down what diamonds for WF to bring in, and wll post the appropriate images once they have the diamonds in house so the best decision can be made from the wonderful PS helpers. Thanks

This one could work too.

Can you get the crown angle for these?

I mean "crown height" not "crown angle".

I''m not sure how WF works with diamonds that are not in house. I''ll ask them, though.

Shouldn''t need to worry about the crown angle so much with an asscher, the images and crown height are what to look for.

Oops. I meant to say crown height. I know Karl will want those.

narrow it down to a couple then have them called in for pictures and sarin to get the crown height.

The lowest price on the diamonds of those specs from WF is $4021.

If that is about the 1.03 they should be able to get it in and around that price is fair.
The others that list it are within a few % of WF on the others so it should be within a $100 or so.

Cool. Thanks Karl and everyone else for your help

When WF verifies my diamond, hopefully these stones will still be around.
Karl, where did you find that 1.03 at? Thanks!

You''re an immense help!!!

Do I let WF know that I found a diamond of certain specs on PS, and they get that diamond, and I pay whatever was listed for the diamond on PS?

33.gif
My other purchase from WF was in house, so I''m unsure what to do. Thanks

Yes give them the specs, they search for it on the wholesale lists and see if they can get it.
They will often price match if they can, sometimes they cant.
