This is a hard one. The ring no longer fits and I have Almond Blossom Opal ring now. That was the deal with my husband to acquire Almond Blossom Opal ring…… and I’ve delayed, what, 2 years or more from holding up my end of the deal.
Sigh.
This ring came from my beloved late honorary Aunt, gifted to me some 30 years ago because I loved opals (and everything else) so much. She apparently had the ring made for herself in the 1960s. It is a magnificent, full colour, semi crystal Opal BUT it is slightly imperfect. It has a line flaw, right from the get go, and hence the fully enclosed and protective bezel setting.
The Opal is big like 23mm x 20mm and a size 7 but fits like a 6 - 6.5 due to the wide band. The ring weighs a hefty 17 grams and is hallmarked 18ct.
The colours are spectacular, a lot of red and orange and almost the whole face is alive with colour. It is a rare opal in that even low light it will still throw colour. Lack of light usually spells “blah and ugh” for opals.
So beautiful, it truly deserves a special loving home.
Price, gosh, this is really hard. Great Opals are expensive but the flaw reduces its value (but not its beauty or integrity due to the setting style).
So for Pricescope I’m asking for offers $3,000 plus.
Almond Blossom ring and Opal pendant in photos are NOT for sale.
Sigh.
