Anyone own one? Thoughts?

I was thinking of buying this one, in black:

but ended up with a coach zoe black on black signature.

I like the designs in general but I have not been able to see the bags IRL. I have no idea about quality and the kind of leather used. I assume it must be good.

Do you have a bag in mind?

I like this one. I also like this one. I am in the same situation though where I would have to buy it sight unseen.

I don''t know much about them but just wanted to say I love the second one you posted Tacori!! Cute!

Burk, thanks. I like how there is a big zipper to close it. Not sure I like how it says "ideal with school uniforms" in the description though.

What, you''re not planning to wear your school uniform as often?

Haha. I just want a grown-up bag! I wore a uniform all through high school but I never carried $250+ purses. Guess I was deprived.

The two bags are fabulous. They both serve different purposes so it''s hard to pick one. I would go for the first one just because I have a lot of hobo style bags.

I checked this "bag forum" and it looks like the brand has good reviews. I seems that fortunoff carries this line in stores as well.

I''ve liked some of the B. Makowsky designs, but for some reason, I don''t want to buy one. They''re everywhere at TJ Maxx and Marshalls (which may be one reason I haven''t jumped - I don''t want to carry something so ubiquitous. They also seem really heavy, and I already have a couple bags that kill my shoulder. They do seem pretty well-made though.

lesco, good to know they got good reviews. The leather looks nice in the photos but obviously it is hard to tell.

celle, interesting they are at TJ Maxx/Marshall''s. I have seen coach there before but don''t really look at the brands most of the time. Heavy is no good. I am really picky about my straps. They have to be comfortable.

Um. I love them. They carry them at our local Dillards, and there isn''t a softer leather in the store. I wanted this one in mint, but I can''t justify that price tag. Want me to go check them out? Think Dillards would think I''m weird for taking pictures of a purse? I could totally use Macro mode...

That is a cute bag - I even love the pink color, and I don''t imagine that size would be too heavy. I need a roomy bag, so I was looking at some jumbo-sizes at Marshalls and Maxx - those weighed a ton.

FC, sure! Only if you are bored and have time. I need something fairly large (so I don't have to carry a separate diaper bag) but the one you posted is super cute. I love the pink and green as well. I was thinking of getting a color since I wear a lot of neutrals but then again I NEED a black bag so decisions, decisions.

ETA: I think soft leather is really beautiful.

ARGH, I wish I saw this post earlier. I was in San Jose last week, and I saw the first Makowsky bag on sale at Nordstrom for 199$ (for the big one, the smaller size was for 150$)! They had a couple of more Makowsky bags on sale as well. I'm not sure if it's at all Nordstrom locations though, and I dont know if they have any left. I almost bought a bag, but I realized that most Makowsky bags don't have a main zipper, and I'm terrified of things falling out. The leather feels really nice and soft, and the bags seem to be of really good quality.

I ended up buying this Michael Kors bag in black instead (and only realized YESTERDAY that it doesn't have a top zipper either!!)

ETA: Just noticed you posted this thread yesterday. I was kicking myself for not checking the thread earlier, since I dont usually venture out to the Shopping forum. *phew*

I vote for the second one too.

kama, LOVE the bag you bought but I 100% agree about the zipper. Maybe I need to rethink this. My DD does not know how to work zippers yet which I need to use to my ADVANTAGE. Also, I usually find handles like the MK''s (the rounded, tube like ones) to be uncomfortable. Do you find this with your new bag or maybe I just had a lemon.

Lor, I think that one is super cute too. Wish it came in more color choices. I wear a lot of neutrals so would love something in a fun color.

I like the second one you posted as well. It''s so hard to buy sight unseen. If there is any way you can get your hands on one, it would be worth it. If not, I would go to Marshall''s or TJ Maxx and see what they have for this brand to compare the quality.
I saw a Makowsky at Macy''s a few weeks ago and almost bought it. However, the hardware just seemed dated or something to me. It was nicely made but I can''t remember if it was heavy or not. It looked like an older person''s purse if that makes any sense. Not all of them do, though. I guess it was just the style of that particular bag.
I ended up going with a Lucky Brand Purse which is totally awesome. I think I have a new favorite handbag company, after Coach.

diamondsrock, thanks for the suggestion. This one is cute.

How funny! That was the one I went to the store to buy, but they were out, so I ended up getting this one.

stupid question, how do you get a link to be in one word instead of the whole long link? I''ve been trying to figure that out.

just bought this one at TJ Max for 139.00 (268.00 list ). My daughter spied it behind other bags,
it went home with her!!
it had a teeny tiny mark on the white leather next to the zipper, so I
asked for a discount, it was priced at 150.00

this is the second b Makowsky bag I''ve scored at T J Maxx

Yep, I know what you mean about some handles. My MK handle is not one bit uncomfortable though, the leather is really soft and smooth, so the handles don''t bother me at all. I actually think this might be the most comfortable bag I''ve ever owned (although, I dont own a ton of fancy bags, so I guess that doesn''t say much).

I like the second purse & I too see them at Tjmaxx/marshall''s quite often. FYI Bruce Makowsky is the husband of Kathy Van Zeeland.

I have one, in dark blue, and it is the most complimented purse that I have ever owned - way more people compliment that purse than my Coach or Kate Spade purses. I used it to death for over a year, and still it barely shows wear. I got mine at TJ Maxx for $100, but it retalied for $250.

I finally needed a change, so I just bought a Tignanello purse in Glam Red that I love. I did look for red purses by B. Makowsky before I bought the Tignanello, but I couldn''t find any this season in the color I wanted.

tacori, I was in macy''s and saw the maui hobo. It is larger than I imagined. Also somewhat heavy, although it was hard to tell because they had it chained to the table with a cord, so I couldn''t tell the true weight of the bag.
Also, the zipper isn''t straight, it sort of curves down, and I found that hard to open.
However, the leather was unbelievably soft and like velvet. I mean really soft.

another brand you may want to look at is luce.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Now I am MORE confused than ever. Wish I could see them in person. I want to buy from Macy''s since I have a gift card. What do you guys think about this?

Just click the button with the world and chain (not sure if it is a chain but that''s what it looks like to me). It is where all your options are (bold, underline, etc). It will ask what text you want and then again the website. I copy and paste. Makes linking pages easy!

Tacori, did you decide yet?

Sorry! I meant to update you guys! I went around in circles and finally ordered Coach''s ali hobo in black. I really liked the size and there was a zipper. I did see some B. Makowsky''s at Nordstroms and the leather is SOOOO buttery. I did not find them heavy. I will own one! I have been looking at Marshalls and while they had some none were right for me. Thanks again for all the advice. I figured since I could find them discounted now was the time to buy the Coach.

Great choice! That''s a gorgeous bag. Coach leather wears like iron. You''ll have that bag for a long time.

My sis has one in her massive hand-bag collection and i like it.

Both links you posted are cute!!

I am a little marc by marc jacobs obsessed right now (have you looked at his bags?) So yummy, soft leather. The pictures don''t do them justice.

My sis has

THIS one in a deep purle/pink color that looks amazing with white/grey/black. I have similar in a pale grey. Both bags draw tons of compliments !
