So I am curious- what are all of you lovley ladies doing for yours? I have planned a weekend for everyone to come and relax and soak up some sun. My bridesmaids are all from the east coast and I wanted them to be a part of it.... My aunt has this amazing place that is the most relaxing place in the world and she is giving up the reins for the weekend. We are going tubing down the Guadalupe River outside of Austin and are having the guys meet us just for the river trip. It is a great time- you can take the tour for 4 or 6 hours and you just float on rented inner tubes. We are going to spend the weekend just hanging out and enjoying each others company.
Just to see if you all were kind of going astray from the "old school" bar party and doing anything different?

Hi Strawdermangrl!

I think I''m having two. I want to go with my bridal party and my girls from work to Cedar Point Amusement park here in Ohio, I live about an hour from there but haven''t yet been there and I LOVE amusement parks in the summer!

My bridal party, however, which consists of my evil best friend, evil future sister in law and my two most evil sisters, insists on having a party for me back in our hometown of Chicago. Every time I see them and ask about it, they shoot each other these glances and say "You''re in for it!" I have a feeling there will be a stripper and other embarrassing things involved

Not even close to planning it yet, but here is my dream bachelorette party:

me and my BMs and MOH (possible MOHs) and possibly a few other close female friends at someone''s (large) house, eating comfort food and watching girly movies and staying up late and talking and doing other girly things (think at-home spa). Basically a big sleepover!

OK, I know, I''m a big dork. But seriously the way I think of it is this - I don''t have enough money to splurge on taking everyone to a spa. And I''ve never been much of a wild party girl. What I will really miss as I get older and settle into married life is quality time with these wonderful women who I''ve been friends with for so long

I love all of the above ideas! While I am not planning mine quite yet (still a LIW) a friend did an evening at a spa. It was more of a self care place. The nice thing about this is that we were able to find a place that would take 8-10 of us and let us have the place to ourselves. They weren''t a traditional spa....but they had some great gadgets. The aqua bed, the massage chair, the oxygen, the chair that vibrates to music, etc. They also let us bring in food & wine. It was relatively cheap ($25-$30 per person). If you are looking for an alternative, this is a very nice one.

ETA - we treated the bride & split her cost between all of us. Additionally, we did this three or four days before the wedding so it was a great release for her as she was *very* emotional.

Basically, it''s your party & you can do whatever you want to!

AmberGretchen!

HOW FUN!!! :) I love girls nights, my MOH and I have been best friends since Middle school and still have little sleepovers.....:) It is fun to hang with your best girls, no one else can make you feel as happy and as perfect as your best girls!!! I think it sounds like a good time......you have to watch "Never Been Kissed" and "Pretty In Pink" classic girl night flicks!!

we did this for a friend''s bachelorette and watched tons of Sex and the City... it was so much fun! and we pigged out on pizza, brownies, and other goodies. yum!

for me, my MOH wants to do vegas, but I''m not sure I wanna do that... maybe if we make it a group trip w/the guys too, I think that would be fun, but I worry about the expense. But I''m not all that into the stripper thing... the food, shows, and hotels- that I do like about vegas!

I want to have a lingerie shower in lieu of a bachellorette party.. probably just at my house or maybe my sisters since she has a bigger house.. That way no one has to go all nutty trying to plan yet another shower.. and it will only be close friends.. no crazy relatives or anything.. lol..

I like the girly movie idea.. its very cute! That might be another option if my lingerie shower idea gets nixed.

My friend just had the spa day thing instead of a bachellorette party.. it was just her, me and her other MOH... and it was VERY luxurious and relaxing but VERY VERY expensive. I just got a massage and facial and it was $150, plus we split the cost of her stuff, so that was another $85.. YIKES.. I just think its a lot of money for something that only lasts a few hours.. you know? (JUST LIKE A WEDDING!)

My FI and I were thinking about doing a joint bachelor/bachelorette party. Just partying, gambling and having fun. I am not into the male stripper either... they just gross me out. I think that would be so fun with the gurls and the guys.

I have no idea what to do. I don''t drink, and I don''t like strippers. So I have no idea. I guess I won''t even have one. I am certainly not going to plan one for myself, and I have no maid of honor, so I assume that it''s something we won''t be doing. Besides, most of my friends have no idea what to do with themselves if alcohol is not involved!

Oops - pardon the pity party I just threw myself. A bit bitter that I can''t go get wasted on a day that most people do!

I am not a big drinker ethier! I always tease that I have too much energy and am fun enough that I don''t have to drink to have a good time! :) You could just get some of your friends together and go and do something that relaxes and interests you, go to a fun place for dinner with some of your close friends, go to the beach for the weekend and lay out and giggle with your girlfriends... You don''t have to put alot of planning into a night of movies and dinner and you can have fun drinks like smoothies and milkshakes... :) And keep in mind Treystar, you can come and float the river with us if you are in Texas!!!

My friends are coming in from all over the US. More men than women actually. We are going to order pizza and watch old videos of all of us together (as kids).. (get that bad thought out of your heads.. not those kinds of videos) Then we are going to stay up late joking around and telling old stories till we laugh so hard that we start to cry.

I do not drink either and since staying up late now ruins me for at least 2 days.... (how in God''s name did I do it before I had children) We decided to stay in and hang out with our friends. FI is hanging out with his old friends at his place and I with mine @ my place. OUr friends are like DAY and NIGHT. His is a very well educated, ''upper'' class man. His friends are veru liberal and progressive.. business suits, yuppy clothes. Mine friends are the salt of the earth, conservative people. I told them to dress upo.. this means that they will knock the cow sh@t off their boots before they come to church... Ilove them, they are great. What a wonderful time.
