I suppose it was only a matter of time I made one of these threads about Brilliant Earth, since I have placed 5 orders with them, four that went smoothly without any issues.

My luck finally ran out.

A few weeks ago I placed an order for a 11.45 ct radiant H/VS2 lab diamond in a rose gold pave split shank setting.

My estimated ship date was August 5th.

However, on August 5th things started getting....weird. I have a fedex account, and I am able to see that there were multiple tracking numbers associated with my BE order being created. At this current moment, there are now 10 labels associated with my BE order, however my order has yet to ship and is still not in fedex's possession.

I have been chatting with customer service support agents online via their chat feature everyday, of course being told with full confidence & a cheery tone that my order will ship "later today" and arrive "tomorrow". Every single day, the same story.

Just last night, I was promised it had actually already shipped even though the tracking still showed pending.

I checked my fedex account again this morning, and it still shows with all 10 labels that the package has not been given to fedex. I reached out to customer service once again, and asked kindly to be informed of the truth, given that I have a fedex account and can see all of these labels & that my order hasn't even been given to fedex. I asked if it was lost or if it needed more time to be worked on, and that I wanted to stop being led on.

I was informed what I do believe is actually the truth - that they are still working on my ring, and they do not know when it will be done. Of course the system shows it will ship later today and be delivered tomorrow, to which I said how is that possible if it isn't finished yet that it could ship today, and the agent admitted she did not know and was sorry. My conclusion & assumption is that BE's system is set up in such a way that every day past the shipping due date another label or two are generated and the system shows next day delivery is expected, even if that is not true.

Based on another pricescope member's horror story with BE, I am assuming my ring needs another 1 - 2 weeks of work and will not be shipped until then. Hopefully they will not do what they did to that member's ring, which was to create a too tall of a setting with a loose stone and a missing cert.

I think unfortunately this will be my last order with BE, which is a shame because they have a great inventory for lab grown diamonds and often are the lowest priced.

Stay tuned for updates....

Yikes! Is it that hard to be forthcoming about whats going on? I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. I would be very concerned too!

Seriously! If a company is honest and says upfront that they need more time to work on an order to get it done without rushing it or doing a bad job on it, I would be very understanding. Sometimes things happen and promised timelines can't be met. That's life and it's okay. But this? Being lied to for days (and what could've been weeks if I didn't tell them that they couldn't lie to me)? That is NOT okay.

The incident of dishonesty is an immense turnoff because it shows their ethical point of view.
If they are okay with lies, how can we trust that everything else happens to be true?

I hope this all works out for you - keep us in the loop of this saga!

Woooow... I hate that feeling of refreshing the FedEx website every day and seeing those 10 labels STILL just sitting there.... That would make my stomach drop. :( I don't get why they wouldn't just be upfront about it to begin with! so sorry.. i hope it gets resolved ASAP. :(

That is a huge order for any gem company! 11 carats! I’d be expecting the head of customer service to be phoning me ,apologizing for any mix up and not giving me another moment of a run around. Sorry that is just BS. Especially as a returning customer. The market is very competitive and considering the power of a bad on line review (of which they have a few) I would be working much harder. Just my 2 cents. Hope it all works out

That's actually a great point. The owner of Adiamor called me on the phone to speak with me personally several months ago after I placed my third or fourth order there. Nothing was even wrong, he just wanted to introduce himself and see why I kept purchasing lab diamonds :lol-2: It was very kind of him. I'm sure BE won't ever do that even though in their situation they actually have something to apologize for. I much prefer Adiamor to BE in terms of customer service and setting quality, however BE consistently has a much larger inventory of stones.

Update: today the customer service agent through the chat feature online told me the new estimated delivery date is August 22. So they need two more weeks to work on it. I'm very disappointed in their communication and that they didn't volunteer this information & update, I had to seek it out.

I also have had very shady communication with BE. I personally would cancel the order with them. Most likely you can get that stone throughout a different vendor. BE is taking so long because the stone isn't in their possession. So somebody else (a wholesaler) has the stone or another customer of the wholesaler. Don't give BE this business. Maybe ask Adiamor if they can source the stone?

Well, I didn't cancel the order (although I appreciate that advice - I probably should've cancelled, but I didn't want to start over at square one with another vendor which would have been a 4 week wait instead of 2) and I got the ring today. It is a gorgeous ring and the craftsmanship is excellent. I can't say I have any complaints, other than BE's dishonesty. The diamond and ring itself are absolutely beautiful

That looks awesome on you! Gorgeous, and I bet you have a big sigh of relief that the wait is over and it’s safely in your hands !

The main thing is that you are happy and love the ring!
