I have too many unset barry stones! Eek! Really needto get working on that....
Anyways, here's the newest addition, an Umba sapphire 1.2 ct, unheated, 6.4 x 5.5. IT's a lovely silverly lavender.
I really hate trying to photograph rich greens, they never look right! You'll just have to believe me when I say this 5mm cushion has a lovely velvety bluish green color. :/
Group shots, I"d ideally like to set some of these together, but haven't figured out how yet. I think I"ll set the spinels together, it's just a question of whether I want to wait for a third to do a 3 stone. The ovals look nice together, but are different sizes...
Yay! Thanks for the pics! I especially love the supernovas together. If I hadn't been after the afghan tourm, you would have had some more competition on that sapphire!
I can see how the spinels might work together! One question: Do they shift in colour? Judging from the photos, they're a great match in terms of tone, but you'd want them to be so in whatever lighting. If one of them closes up, then they might not flatter each other. I have a Burmese red, and it does the exact opposite: It seems to grab whatever light there is, and under lover light, it does take on a slightly orange tone - but it also GLOWS! Many of the blues and purples I've seen have seemed dead under similar light.
It will be interesting to see if you end up doing a combo - I personally like multi colour matches, but they are very tricky!
It's hard to set 2 stones together, especially when the colors are different. But maybe a bypass ring would work? I'm envisioning one in the style of this one, but with the stones set a little more vertically...
Ooh, I didn't think of including the cushion with the 2 spinels! The tone is rich and dark with all 3 of them, and the colors complement each other well. I can see the tsavorite kite-set as a stacker between the 2 rounds. They may be a bit large for stackers depending on how big they actually are, though.
Wow, what a beautiful collection! I love the cutting on Barry's supernovas But that tsav is definitely my favorite!!!! Can't wait to see how you set these.
Yummy yummy! Love the tsave & the spinels, mmmmmm. I can see all those together in a necklace (I know you wouldn't get to look at them when you wore them ) but everybody else would go nuts!
