I’ve had this Mexican fire opal ring for a while and was wondering how much it’s approximately worth. Note that the photos made with my phone don’t do justice to the stone. It doesn’t have a “harlequin” or “rolling” pattern, but it sparkles green, purple, blue and red whatever direction you turn it. It has a piece of the matrix (I can’t explain it better) at the back, but though it detracts from worth, it doesn’t detract from its beauty.
The ring is blackened 925 silver with gilding, and accented with an iolite, emerald, and diamond (they are pretty small and imperfect though), and completed with beautiful craftmanship.81E5F696-9182-415B-A5C7-A6DA1C1191C2.jpegB02D5E7D-9A85-49B9-8A31-028D29F61F22.jpeg87C2EA53-491D-4500-8317-2501D41E586A.jpegDFD1E747-2323-4E57-9B8F-EDD2C18FF218.jpeg

love to see it on your finger =)2

The design is actually a copy of a ring made by a famous jeweler, but I don’t remember which. Does anyone know?

Also, is keeping it in a plastic bag enough to keep it from crazing? I rarely wear it and don’t want it to self destruct:)

How big are the stones? Maybe do some comparisons vs. opals for sale?

I’m guessing the opal is about 3 carats. Info on the internet is contradicting and confusing. Mine is a Mexican fire opal with play of multiple colors, while wiki said that they only flash green. The closest I found is 50$ per carat for Australian fire opals, but they are supposedly worth less. Also, how much does design impact price?
