While at a jeweler fixing my wife's engagement ring (resizing it down for her...), I'm going in the other direction.
The jeweler did cut the band off of my finger that had a diamond at the front, and onyx inlaid at the left & right. I understand I will need to go from about a size 9 to size 11. I think the jeweler that did the cut, on first thought, was not optimistic about sizing it up, and showed me other rings to consider.
Taking it to jeweler #2, when it is shared a second time that I'd like to keep it, he suggests he might send it out for a confirmation, but thinks a shank can be added to allow me to keep the ring as is.
Based on both the estimate of cost ($275) and preference to keep the original ring, vs getting a new simple (preferred) band ($600), it seems the effort to try to keep the original band is the way to go.
But, am I fooling myself? No one's yet confirmed it's possible. We're talking a yellow gold band.
Any good intelligence here about options...except that I should loose weight?
Thanks,
Ira Z.
