Before and After Recut

One of my sons is planning on getting engaged soon and being the helpful Mom that I am I offered him the diamond from my old engagement ring. The diamond was not of any substantial size and not well cut, but it has sentimental value. I have had the diamond many years but not long enough that is antique! I thought let me see if it could be recut. I sent it off to Lesley at Brian Gavin. It was a candidate.

I just got the pictures and wow! The recut has made a huge difference. I have not seen the diamond in person yet. I can’t wait. Lesley has been wonderful to deal with and I can’t recommend the process highly enough. I have no idea about what setting my son plans on getting. We have all gone out looking to get ideas and I know he wants the setting to be a surprise.

Weight before was .782 ct. After .648 ct. Hearts and Arrows before and after as well as idealscope.

Wow! Brian made that diamond a stunner! I hope your new DIL treasures it!

Wow, that looks lovely, lucky DIL.

Is your poochy an OES? :D

HI:

Cool! These are always the most satisfying threads...lol

cheers--Sharon

Now that is impressive! How sweet of you to do that for your son and future daughter in law!

I had Brain recut my mom's diamond - your son's future fiancee is going to love it!

Wow what a gorgeous transformation!!!:love::love:

wow, the "before" images were a bit of a mess, haha. The "after" looks stunning!

The before photos were a disaster yet I happily wore that diamond for over 25 years. What did I know? The after pictures are amazing and I am so happy that the diamond will see a new life. Thank you all for the wonderful comments. No the dog is not an OES though I did have one long ago. He is a goldendoodle. About 85 pounds and he was a rehome I found on craigslist.

Wow!!!! That is so worth it!

Beautiful!!!!

Is recutting pricey?

Its spectacular!

I thought the recutting fee was completely worth it. It was around $375.00. Considering I had had the diamond for a long time and it was just sitting in my jewelry box I am so happy the diamond is seeing a new life. Too bad I don't have any more diamonds lying around.

What an amazing difference!

Wow! What a major difference!

You are a wonderful mom! and the after shots are amazing!! I can't wait to see the stone.. congratulations on your son getting engaged.

Very nice!..:appl::appl:

How wonderful and thoughtful! Please show us the final ring he proposes with!

We have all gone out looking to get ideas. I would not allow them to go to the mall stores to even look. They didn't understand. After seeing the diamond they understand. I'm not sure of his timeline but I hope he doesn't decide on December 23rd that he needs a ring by Christmas day. Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments. I think it turned out beautiful.

That's an amazing transformation! Did it lose much in diameter?

Wow. What a difference.
