Best setting for an almost 2 carat diamond pendant necklace?

I'm looking to reset an almost 2 carat diamond ( 1.9, H, SI 1 to be exact) in a necklace and hoping to wear it as an every day kind of piece. I really like the look of bezel settings for diamond solitaires but don't see too many examples of them in this size. Is the stone too big for a bezel? If so, what would be my best options?

Also, if I do a gold chain, would you consider a platinum bezel or prongs or would that look strange here?

Any examples are welcome! Thanks very much!

I don’t think that’s too big at all and would look great in a bezel pendant! I think “too big” is more about whether you’d be uncomfortable with people commenting or complimenting it. I imagine at that size it’ll get a lot of compliments. I think going with a prong setting and longer chain might make it look less large if you’re worried about feeling self conscious about the size.

A Blue Nile rep, while discussing settings options, pointed out that bezel settings are easier to put on than they are to remove, in that removing it could lead to some new surface blemishes. Might be more of a concern for FL stones. (Off topic: I also learned that buying flawless stones to set and wear is a waste of the premium paid on FL stones because they'll probably just wind up IF.)
