Hi again guys,

So I asked recently for input regarding a 1.39 carat round stone but I have another jeweler that continues to try to sell me on his stone which is a 1.22 carat round. The two biggest differences are the 1.39 is 7.30x7.37 and is VG cut (GIA 2115023419) for 7100 and the 1.22 is EX cut for 6975 (GIA 2105270617). The reason I mention the size of the 1.39 is because my initial search was I wanted a 1.5 carat because that I what my GF had mentioned. When I ran the HCA, the 1.39 is 2.6 and the 1.22 is 1.4, I know is not supposed to be used for comparing but I did anyway. The 1.39 is eye clean and am told so is the 1.22. Do you think the 1.39 will sparkle with these specifications (it does to me but maybe not as well as the 1.22)? Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the links stonecold!

SC is right, both might be fine if we could get an idealscope image for each, is this possible? Also with the first diamond, check concerning the grade making inclusions, if there are clouds as the main grade makers in SI clarity grades these can occasionally impact performance so check with the vendor concerning this.

No I don''t have any idealscope images and I''m not sure I will be able to get any. I know the jeweler with the 1.22 doesn''t have one and I''m not sure about the 1.39.

You could buy your own IS (''round $30 I believe) and take your P&S camera

Yeah i guess I could, I''m just trying to make this decision soon as I''d like to propose in the next week or so. Any advice on comparing these two diamonds would be appreciated based on the GIA reports. Thanks so much!

Please everyone any help would be so much appreciated. I''ve got the 1.22 carat jeweler telling me how Ex cut is why his stone is better and saying I''m making a bad decision going with the 1.39 carat and that I won''t even see the size difference of ~.5mm because the eye cannot tell that small difference. Any thoughts would be helpful, I am proposing next week and initially was going with the 1.39 but this jeweler won''t stop calling, trying to sell me on the stone and his store being better. I don''t know what to do!

SoD, its difficult to advise as we can''t really give you any meaningful info just on the numbers alone, also if there are clouds setting the grades for SI2 clarity you would really need to get an expert to check the stone to make sure these aren''t dulling the stone - and make sure you get a return policy in writing to give you time to do this.

Out of the two, from the info we have, I would be most interested in the 1.22 but we cannot responsibly say for sure that the diamond will be well cut or suitable for you from so little information.

I understand, I guess I just wish it was easier that''s all! Thanks for the advice, I really do appreciate it.
