Does anyone own this? Not the preset ones, but the signature version with 5 0.06 stones. Can you post pictures if you do? I'm trying to get an idea of the size of stones on a wrist. They seem awfully small. Thanks!

I don't know who might have one other than maybe Elisa unless she sold hers? But I think .06 is really small. I have a DBY necklace with .07's and I use it to hang a pendant on. But I don't think I'd really want a bracelet with stones smaller than that.

Do you have pics of your necklace? Thanks!!

I own quite a lot of DBTY from WF, BGD, DeBeers and Tiffany, and 0.06 is very small. For my BGD rose gold bracelet, I chose three stones of 0.12 which shows up very nicely on the wrist. My BGD necklace is 0.10 stones. My DeBeers and Tiffany ones have the smallest, with stones of about 0.07. However, I have noticed that the spread of their melee is a lot larger than others. A BGD 0.06 will, in my experience, be seriously small.

Here is a link to a post I wrote when I was Smith1940 which shows the Tiffany 0.07. You can see how small it is. (The box says E.B. Horn because it's preloved.)

Forgot to say: the BGD stuff IS the Signature melee, 0.10 each for the necklace and 0.12 for the bracelet. Let me just say that the melee is worth it - it is SO sparkly.

If wanting the 0.06 melee is a matter of cost, you could have a solitaire bracelet with one bigger melee. Bigger melees sparkle more. I also have a yellow gold BGD solitaire bracelet with one 0.14 and I love wearing it. I'd have to look it up, but I think it cost around $530-ish.

Thanks! That was super helpful! I'm going to ask for a price for larger melee. I also need it shortened to 6.25 inches.

Hi Jax,

Couple of things I learnt in buying DBTY from both BGD and WF: The bezels on WF's things are thicker. BGD's bezels are incredibly thin and delicate, whereas with WF you can see the bezel much more. See my WF sapphires-by-the-yard necklace here:

Re. BGD, although I love them and think they do beautiful work, they are definitely on the pricy side - enough to really make me balk at their prices sometimes. I thought the quote for my five-stone DBTY necklace of 10 pointers (.50 ctw) was really high, and I said so, and they took off $100. Basically, the stock version with the sig melee was about $1,000 for 7 x 0.07 (0.50) but five stones of 0.10 (also 0.50) was $1500. While I appreciate that larger melee costs more - I do know that - I thought that an extra $500 when it is, after all, the same carat weight was just too much. When they took $100 off, I went for it. I think the bracelet, with three 0.12 stones, was about $1000. This was all in 14k rose gold. Of course, I bought these items a year ago so prices have probably changed.

You should probably get a quote from both WF and BGD, because having said that BGD is pricy, WF is perfectly capable of coming up with the odd wild quote themselves. They quoted me almost a thousand dollars for the solitaire 0.14 bracelet whereas BGD was about $530. I bought six pieces in total, 3 from BGD and 3 from WF, and the money I saved from getting quotes from both totalled a four-figure sum. There were numerous pieces whereone of them was MUCH higher or MUCH less than the other, so I found it really pays to get quotes from both. It's not like buying flights to the UK, where the prices on Virgin, BA and American are all within a few dollars of each other!

And also, make sure you specify a 1mm chain. That's the size for DBTY. One of them nearly gave me a 1.5mm which would have ruined the "floating diamond" look of DBTY.

Smith had such excellent pictures that I doubt you need to see mine now! But I agree after looking at her pictures that I would want at least 10 pointers for a bracelet. I'd probably do 12-15 points for a necklace. I use my current one for a pendant chain, and smaller diamonds work better. In fact, they could be smaller than .07 for that purpose. I also agree with getting quotes from both. My diamond huggie earrings with the same specs were much less from WF.

I have not even got round to posting half my DBTY pieces from WF and BGD. I will have to post my BGD 3 stone rose gold bracelet, which has 0.12 stones, so you can see it. (And I also have a sapphires-by-the-yard bracelet to match my necklace from WF, and matching WF sapphire studs, and a yellow gold solitaire bracelet from BGD, and my WF baby bezels.) Sometime I'll get round to the photography!
