BGD vs. Infinity Diamonds---weird appearance of H&A in video

Hello all,

I have been heavily researching for some time now and have narrowed my search to BGD and Infinity diamonds. I have seen some videos on websites, along with some videos and home made You Tube clips. I have noticed that in almost all the photos and videos of the BGD diamonds, the Hearts and Arrows are extremely visible, in an almost black appearance. It looks like a clock inside of the diamond.

The HOF diamonds I was initially looking at (before I discovered the value in buying online), and the Infinity diamonds do not seem to have this look. You can still see the H&A, but they are muted and not black. Is this just the way BGDs look and it is just the way their brand looks, or is in not as noticeable in person? Please see the videos below. There are countless ones out there, but here are 3. I know that the H&A is the signature of a great diamond, and it is always shown in the close up pics, but I don't want her to see it every time she looks down at it.

P.S. I love this site and all the fantastic people and information I have gained by searching! Thank you all!

It's just the photo/video setup, similar to how the arrows for the Infinity stone looks black in the photo vs silvery in the video in your link.

ETA: Generally the closer the camera is to the stone, the darker the arrows appear. Same thing happens in person, the closer you bring the stone to your eyes the darker the arrows appear.

Thanks for the input! Its tough not seeing these diamonds in person. Thank God for the return policy for peace of mind :)

Yes, just the photography. They reflect what is in front of them!

This is good to know! I honestly thought that the "dark" or "black" H&A that I saw in the ads & vendor pics for BGD (and, I think, WF) were part of their brand & could be readily seen without an H&A viewer. I wasn't really comfortable with that so its good to know it's "just the camera or video". Thanks!

It's actually difficult to see that arrows IRL if you aren't looking for them or in the right lighting environment, so don't worry about that. :))

So it sounds like the BGD Sig stones are amazingly cut stones whose arrows will "act" like the arrows in my other H&As (ie, be seen when looked for ;)) ). Do the ACAs act the same, given BG's history w/ WF? I'm in the very early stages of looking at studs & these stones weren't front runners for me because of an old post I'd read about their "odd look" & the way the stones appear to look "back" at you  .
Needless to say, I intend to do quite a bit of research before deciding for myself :read: ! :wavey:

Yes, WhiteFlash ACA's are in the same category of top cut quality hearts and arrows stones with Infinity, BG Signature, Hearts on Fire, Good Old Gold hearts and arrows, etc. If all of these stones were put in a tray, you certainly couldn't tell them apart if the specs were the same!

The arrows can look black if they reflect some nearby dark surface. Someone on here said they use a camera with a silver body now, and can't make the arrows look so black anymore.

In real life, they sometimes throw flashes of brilliance (white light), or flashes of fire, but rarely ever have I even seen my arrows looking dark, much less black. BGD seems to set up the photographic equipment to make the arrows stand out and look black. Wink seems to strive to show the brilliance and fire of them in his videos. In real life, the diamond is moving and you'd be seeing something like what the Wink's Infinity diamond videos show. Or, Good Old Gold's live Brilliancescope. Or the perhaps the Gem Adviser models that GOG provides for their diamonds.

Sincere thanks to both of you for clarifying what I've been seeing in the photos! Having purchased from GOG, I easily connected with your references to their H&As and Gem Advisor modeling.

The brilliance and fire that you guys have described coming from ALL of these "top cut quality hearts and arrows stones" IRL from the vendors you've mentioned makes total sense. I realize now that if I was in the process of purchasing from one of them, I would ask them to take photos that somewhat "muted" the intensity of the arrows (since I KNOW they're there :twirl: ) and to provide pictures that would better represent what I will see when I actually wear the earrings IRL.
Thanks so much for taking the time to help me with this!! :wavey:
