Ally, you''ll be great today! Did you make the CD recommended by Erin (great idea)?? I can picture you in the car, belting out tunes on the way there....Aretha Franklin, maybe? R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me

GOOD LUCK!!!! Let us know how it goes- I will be thinking of you today.

Hey everyone,

First of all I want to say thank you to all of you for your good wishes. I did take Erin''s idea and listened to music. As to how it went GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Ok I first get into the holding room and the chairman of the department comes to sit next to me and says "You look frightened" And here I thought I was looking all confident. The interview itself, I think it was ok. Although my gut feeling says that the professor (male) didn''t like me. It seemed as though he wanted to hurry up and get it over with. I don''t know if it was just his personality or if he thought I was not suitable. He seemed kind of macho. And I found out that they had 300 applicants for 10 spots!!! Only 10. But they only interviewed 24. So it is basically out of my hands. My gut says....I had better pass my french exam so I can go to med school because I am not going to be accepted into Mcgill. But I did my best. We''ll know soon.

Thanks girls!

Ally...I''m sure it was better than you think. Macho man might have seemed the same way to everyone else...its called intimidation tactics.

Enjoy your weekend!

Ally -- don''t worry! I went to interview to be an intern (this was years ago) at a major PR firm and I had interviews with two different divisions: Consumer Tech and Healthcare. Well, I went into the Healthcare interview first and I thought I had NAILED it. I walked out of there feeling TOTALLY confident and thought that I had it FOR SURE. My next interview was with the Consumer Tech dept. and I walked out there thinking I had totally bombed it. Well, of course, I DIDNT get the position with the Healthcare Dept and the Consumer Tech Dept thought I had rocked! Just goes to show you that you never know! I''m sure it went better than you thought!! I''m sure you were great! :)

I agree, intimidation tactics at its best. Just think you were the one who made it to the interview and beat all those other applicants! That in itself says a lot.

Alley - Some people revel is discomfiting interviewees...it''s part of a game to see who performs under pressure. I''m sure you did GREAT, and holy cow, 24 out of 300...you rock already! Can I borrow your transcript for my own apps?

Alley !
way to go !!! the big thing is you did it - you walked in there and you did it. That in itself is a huge achievement, clap on the back to you honey !!!

you are too hard on yourself - 300 applicants and they only interviewed 24 ??? that ALREADY puts you up the league of super-talented-driven-special-people ........

hoorah for you ! that''s what I say .....

go and have a fantastic weekend and remember you are GLORIOUS !

*hugs*

Hey ally,

I''m proud that you did your best. Already being one of the top 24 is wonderful! There could be several reasons your interviewer was in a bad mood...and I''ve found that them being in a good mood isn''t necessarily promising. When do you hear from them? All you can do is your best. You should be happy! Go out to dinner

I had to give interviews once and it was sooooo boring. Even with the people I did like I didn''t want to be over enthusiastic because I wasn''t sure if later that day people would be better (but usually they were worse).

And no matter what happens we will be here for you!

Hey everyone!

I''m trying not to worry about it but I keep taking everything apart. At the end he said "Good Luck" does that mean..."hahah you''re not getting in so good luck." I''m losing it. I hope, hope that a misread him. I''m usually really good at reading people but I have been wrong before.

Snow: They said they would tell me in 3 weeks, but I don''t think that is true. They call by phone and its 10 people. Last year, the first round of acceptance got call son the following monday.

Croi: You''re a sweetie. I love the pom pom smiley faces. I am going to *try* and relax this weekend

Wcity, Blue, Cute: I really hope that was just his personality! He was nice to me, but you know... impressions. It''s always so hard to tell. He nodded a lot. I don''t know if that means anything at all.

Well I did my best, that''s all I can do.

Thanks everyone!

24 out of 300!!! holy cow, that in itself is prestigous to be a part of that group. Try not to pick apart the entire interview this weekend. Relax and be glad that it is over.

Hey Ally ~ Congrats for MAKING TO the interview itself!!! I did not realize they were only interviewing 24 people ~ that means you were in the top 8% and that is really fantastic for such a prestigious program!!! As far as the actual interview goes... I think you probably did great!!! These people doing entrance interviews do not typically show their hand so don''t sweat it too much. I know how hard it is to not really get any sort of "vibe" from the interviewer, very disconcerting. I tend to agree with Blue Chica here, dental school is a pressure cooker and I would assume that part of the interview process is to evaluate how well you can deal with intimidation and stress while managing to remain calm and keep your wits about you. And if nothing else... aren''t you so glad it''s done and over with????
