Keep the scratching post. We adopted a declawed Himalayan cat years ago and he loved "scratching" the rug and scratching post. It''s a natural habit to scratch and it makes cats feel good. I wish people understood that when they have their cat declawed the vet is actually performing ten small amputations. You''d be amazed the damage declawing does, and how many people then turn around and give the cat up for adoption because it pees all over the house....but what did they expect? The texture of litter is painful to a declawed paw pad. if you associated your toilet with pain you wouldn''t want to pee in it either.
