Does anyone have blue diamond studs they wear everyday? I don't own any diamond studs or any kind of studs for that matter and have been looking at some blue diamond ones. Could you show me your fancy colored diamond studs? Thanks!

I don't think blue diamond studs are very common here, as they are either natural (and uber expensive, if you can get a matched pair at all) or heavily treated (HTHP to colour the diamonds). Of course, the level of treatment is a personal preference.

Natural untreated FCDs are so expensive that my preference is to have them set in a ring in order to better appreciate it. Blue also happens to be one of the rarest diamond colour, making it more expensive than pinks, yellows, and I think even greens. Treated blue FCDs are very affordable though.

I am positive they are treated but they look pretty to me. And that price is not bad?

The price seems fair. Irradiated blue diamonds are not very expensive. Those are irradiated. The problem with irradiated blue diamonds is that very included or darker diamonds are typically used for the treatment, so they tend to lack sparkle and appear rather dark.

Thanks TL. That is good to know. I have been trying to find other blue studs to compare those two and it doesn't look like there are too many out there.

The colour clues me in that they are most likely to be irradiated. Colour-wise, it isn't too dark. What bothers me more are the "white" diamonds; they have the black ring of death (major light leakage) and look peppery, not white and sparkly.

That is true Chrono. It says the clarity is SI2 to I1 in clarity. I1 is not a good clarity grade right? I asked her about it and she said the clarity is so-so. She has another pair of studs that look awesome, just white diamonds but they are OEC's. Wish I could afford those right now!

Thank you jbkhere! Looks like she has pretty things in her store.

I'm not a big fan of the irradiated blues (although Dear Buddha has a gorgeous one). I have several pairs of fcd studs (pink and blue), but I mostly wear my whites because they are so much bigger! Someday I'll get around to getting jackets for them or have them reset to make them pop!

This is what they look like when not irradiated (mine are smaller than these).

Those are so pretty periwinklegirl, they remind me of snowflakes. I am not sure I like the idea of irradiated blue diamonds either, it's kind of like having a diffused sapphire right? They both look pretty but knowing the treatment kind of puts you off a bit. I would like to have my own collection of fcd's. Someday...... I would just like to own a pair of studs, I don't usually wear anything in my ears and I remember when I was a teenager I had a pair of hoops I never took off. They were my lucky earrings. But to have a pair of studs you never take off, they kind of need to be diamonds right? I guess sapphire would work or even spinels, I will just have to keep looking.

Chrysoberyl, corundum, spinel, beryl, tourmaline and garnet can be worn 24/7 as earrings unless you plan on walking into doors regularly. ;))

Zircon is definitely a candidate too.

Found a pic of mine! These are in the flower jackets (I wasn't happy with how they turned out, but you can see my studs).

Oooh, those are beautiful earrings, both sets. And your rings are gorgeous too periwinkle girl, thanks for sharing. I guess studs don't have to be diamonds, I don't walk into doors too often Chrono :P I really like blue zircons. I have a blue zircon ring but I don't wear it too often because of the hardness of zircons but I think earrings would be great.

Periwinkle,
Your FCD sets are gorgeous!

Thanks! You have some stunners yourself! Can't wait to see how that fcd ring turns out!

Livannie,
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I don't mind irradiated, I just prefer the colour of my blues. My pinks are irradiated, and I love the colour. I also have some treated greens and I'm happy with them too. They are from Africa Gems.

Good luck and enjoy!

Loving the eye candy in this thread. Liv, I'd lean towards blue sapphires or zircons rather than diamonds to get a very similar look (and probably more sparkle and brightness too).
